As reported by the regulator, the Malta Gaming Authority<\/a><\/strong> has recently welcomed a delegation from the Lotteries and Gambling Supervisory Inspection of Latvia <\/strong>at its premises at SmartCity.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The delegation was<\/strong> provided with an overview <\/strong>of the MGA\u2019s organizational structure, the role and responsibilities of the various functions, and how they work together to contribute to the Authority\u2019s overall strategy.<\/p>\n

Heading the Latvian delegation, J\u0101nis Ungurs, Director of Legal<\/strong>, described the visit as being a \u201cvery useful exchange of experiences\u201d.<\/p>\n

He went on to hail the MGA team as being very professional, and lauded the Authority\u2019s openness to cooperation and training. \u201cThe workshop exposed us to many initiatives that can be undertaken in Latvia,\u201d <\/strong>he said.<\/p>\n

The Latvian delegation was given an appreciation of the importance of data and analytics<\/strong> in decision-making and in policy-making, and of how the Authority collated data from its licensees and made use of it.<\/p>\n

The MGA underscored the importance of monitoring the sector\u2019s performance<\/strong> and how regulators should remain abreast of any developments and trends within the gaming industry.<\/p>\n

The workshop also explored the<\/strong> MGA\u2019s licensing process<\/strong>, criminal probity screening, the different types of approvals and the regulatory supervision function.<\/p>\n

The Authority\u2019s Finance Department<\/strong> provided a snapshot<\/strong> of the processes related to the collection of compliance contribution, as well as the revenue assurance function.<\/p>\n

The Authority\u2019s Anti-Money Laundering Unit<\/strong>, meanwhile, expounded upon the AML\/CFT obligations at law, the examination process and post-examinations procedures.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month<\/a>, the regulator also welcomed a\u00a0delegation from Ghana. The two entities discussed\u00a0potential knowledge-sharing initiatives<\/strong>, and how the Ghana National Lottery Authority\u00a0could benefit from Malta\u2019s experience in implementing necessary changes in a sustainable manner, whilst striking a balance between regulatory objectives and the sector\u2019s need.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n\n
