The women’s side of the Australian Open has been every bit as exciting as the men’s side. In fact, some would argue that it’s been even more thrilling due to the numerous upsets of top ranked stars.
Yet, four of the top WTA players in the world still remain alive in the tournament. Furthermore, the reigning champ Sofia Kenin has already been ousted which guarantees that we will have a new Australian Open winner this year.
Online tennis betting sites have released their updates odds and prop bets for the women’s Quarterfinal matchups and beyond. Let’s take a closer look at these odds and upcoming matches to see where we should lob some wagers at.

Women’s Australian Open Betting Odds
The following Australian Open betting odds are to win the Grand Slam and courtesy of BetOnline:
- Naomi Osaka (+150)
- Ashleigh Barty (+250)
- Serena Williams (+450)
- Simona Halep (+600)
- Jennifer Brady (+850)
- Karolina Muchova (+2000)
- Jessica Pegula (+2200)
- Su-Wei Hsieh (+5000)
Top Half of the Draw
Ashleigh Barty (+250)
- Make the AO Finals (-125)
Prior to the Australian Open, I picked Barty to cruise into the Semifinals as she had a great Draw that saw very little competition for the top seeded star.
As of now, that prediction is looking great because the top threat standing in her way has already been ousted (Pliskova). Now, Barty faces 25th ranked Muchova who shouldn’t be more than a speed bump to a SF matchup against Brady or Pegula.
You really have to like Barty’s chances to make the Finals and win the tournament as she has the easiest road to the Grand Slam win of the top seeded players. She also looks to be in top form as she has yet to lose a single set in the tournament so far.
Jennifer Brady (+850)
- Make the AO Finals (+275)
Brady was a value pick for me in Quarter 2 as she had the potential to make some noise. Yet, this Quarter was all about the defending champ Sofia Kenin taking on Elina Svitolina for the chance at making it to the Semifinals.
Instead, Kenin was upset in the 2nd round and Svitolina was upset by the unranked Jessica Pegula in the 4th round, which leaves Brady as the highest remaining seed in the Quarter.

Brady will be favored in her all-American QF matchup against Pegula, but you can’t count out Jessica as she has showed some great form.
Whoever wins that match will face Barty in the Semifinals and I don’t see either lady getting past Barty.
Karolina Muchova (+2000)
- Make the AO Finals (+600)
The 25th seed Karolina Muchova has been another surprise in this tournament as she’s pulled off two straight upsets to make it to the Quarterfinals.
In the 3rd round, Muchova upset 6th seed Pliskova in straight sets and then went on to the 4th round where she upset 18th seeded Elise Mertens in straight sets as well.
Muchova has been playing some of the best tennis in her career. Unfortunately, she will run up against Barty in the Quarterfinals and that’s where her magical run will come to an end.
Jessica Pegula (+2200)
- Make the AO Finals (+600)
Although I picked Barty to win the Australian Open, I will be rooting for Pegula to win this Grand Slam. She is the daughter of the owners of the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres which are my favorite teams and a place where I grew up.

I think Pegula has a realistic chance at beating Brady in the Quarterfinals. Unfortunately, I just don’t see anyone else in the Top Half of the Draw taking out Barty. The Cinderella run of Pegula will end in the Semifinals.
Bottom Half of the Draw
Naomi Osaka (+150)
- Make the AO Finals (-140)
Of the QF matchups, Osaka has the easiest opponent as she’s facing unranked Su-Wei Hsieh who upset Vondrousova in straight sets in the 4th round.
It was supposed to be 9th seeded Petra Kvitova versus Osaka in the QF, but Kvitova was bounced in the 2nd round.
As expected, Osaka and Muguruza battled in the 4th round where Naomi won in three sets. That was a thrilling matchup.
Now, Osaka has a real chance at winning the Bottom Half of the Draw due to an easy QF matchup. She will cruise into the Semifinals where she will wait the winner of Serena Williams and Simona Halep.
I like Osaka’s chances of making the Finals (-140) better than anyone else in this half of the Draw.
Serena Williams (+450)
- Make the AO Finals (+250)
Serena is still on track to win her 24th Grand Slam as she has battled her way to the Quarterfinals. I had predicted a 4th round matchup against Sabalenka and it being a tough test for Williams. That came true as Williams won 6-4 in the 3rd set.

Now, she faces Halep who is the 2nd seed in the Australian Open. Fortunately for Williams, she is 9-2 all-time against Halep and 7-2 against her on hard court surfaces. I like Serena to make it to the Semifinals where she will take on the betting favorite in Naomi Osaka.
Simona Halep (+600)
- Make the AO Finals (+325)
Halep has made it to the Quarterfinals as expected. However, she did have a tough test in the 4th round against Swiatek as it took her winning the 3rd set 6-4 to advance to the QF.
Now, she will play against Serena Williams who she’s 2-9 against all-time as mentioned above. I just don’t see Halep having what it takes to beat Williams on the hard court surface. If it was clay or grass then Halep would have a better chance.
Although there’s a nice return on her odds to make the Finals, there’s no way that Halep beats both Williams and Osaka.
Su-Wei Hsieh (+5000)
- Make the AO Finals (+1800)
Hsieh it the biggest surprise of the women’s tournament. She’s had a remarkable run just to get to the Quarterfinals. A straight set win over Vondrousova in the 4th round was very impressive.
Unfortunately, that all comes to an end as she takes on Osaka in the Quarterfinals. I don’t see her upsetting Osaka. And, if she did, there’s no way she gets past Williams.
Who Wins the 2021 WTA Australian Open?
Prior to the start of the tournament, I picked Barty to win the Top Half and Osaka vs Williams for the Bottom Half. Right now, I feel very confident in those picks.
In fact, I am really surprised that we’re still getting such value with all three of those women. For Barty, she has the easiest path to the Finals. For Osaka or Williams, they still have a tougher road to get to the Finals.
I had picked Williams to pull off the upset over Osaka in the Semifinals and I am sticking with it. But, as I also stated, she won’t have enough left in the tank to beat Barty in the Finals.

Barty was at +600 odds to win the Australian Open prior to the tournament’s start. She’s still listed at +250 odds to win despite having an easy path to the Finals. There’s great value with the sport’s top ranked player.
