2022 USFL Week 2 Betting Odds, Analysis, and Picks

It’s Week 2 of the 10-week 2022 USFL Regular Season and there is a game on Friday, April 23 between two teams looking for their first win as well as on Saturday, April 24 between two teams from the South Division who will head in unbeaten and both 2-0-0 ATS.

There are eight teams in the USFL and they play in the North Division (Michigan Panthers, Philadelphia Stars, New Jersey Generals, and Pittsburgh Maulers) and South Division (Tampa Bay Bandits, Houston Gamblers, New Orleans Breakers, Birmingham Stallions).

Week 2 of USFL Will See North Division Seeking First Win

In USFL Week 1, all four teams in the South Division won their openers, with the Bandits beating the Maulers, 17-3, the Breakers topping the Stars, 23-17, the Gamblers beat the Panthers, 17-13, and the Stallions defeated the Generals, 28-24 in a classic USFL opener.

So three Unders and an average of just 37.3 ppg with only the Generals -Stallions going Over the posted Total (42½) and the Favorites going 3-1 ATS with only the Panthers failing to cover as a Favorite, losing outright to Houston on Sunday in Birmingham.

The inaugural USFL 2022 Regular Season will last 10 weeks (April 16 to June 19) with the top two teams in the North Division and South Division playing in divisional title games on Saturday, June 25 with the 2022 USFL Championship Game on Sunday, July 3, 2022.

The USFL unveiled that its first-ever Postseason will be played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium (Turf Nation) in Canton, Ohio, the site of the NFL’s Hall of Fame with the North and South championships on June 25 and the USFL Championship Game on July 3.

The USFL has no connection to the United States Football League (1983-1985)—except owning the logo now—and the league is run by the National Spring Football League, and this modern incarnation of Spring pro football is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama.

This was the fourth launch of a league in the United States of a league that has been called the USFL with attempts also made in 1945 and 2010. Friday – Michigan Panthers +1½ vs. New Jersey Generals

The Panthers (6/1 to win 2022 USFL Championship, BetOnline) lost their opener to Houston, 17-13, and Michigan was the only USFL favorite not to cover ATS in Week 1 and went from the Favorites to win the 2022 USFL Championship to the third spot in a game.

The Panthers were their worst enemy against the Gamblers, committing 3 TOs, missing 2 2-point Conversions, and 1 Field Goal Attempt, leaving points on the field and a Defensive TD by Houston’s Reggie Northrup was the difference for the SU and ATS reality in the end.

Michigan and QB Shea Patterson played a strong 2nd Half, going 17-for-24 for 172 yards but the Gamblers led 17-0 at Halftime and the two, 2-point conversions would have meant a Tie game and the missed FG means that the Panthers could have won that game.

The Generals (6/1) also lost their opener in Week 1, falling to the Stallions in the 2022 USFL season opener on Saturday, April 16 by a 28-24 score in the only really high-scoring game in Week 1 and a game that saw Birmingham win in the end on a late TD.

NJ rushed for 222 yards in the opener and ran the ball 24 straight times at one point (no typo). 24. So expect one team to run here and one team to pass here and one team will get their first win while the other will fall to 0-2 and chasing it in a 10-game Regular Season.

Sunday – Tampa Bay Bandits-154 vs. New Orleans Breakers

The two teams oddsmakers think have the best chance to win the 2022 USFL Championship meet at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama on Sunday (NBC, Peacock, 3 pm EDT/2 pm CDT/12 pm PDT) in what could be a low-scoring affair.

And one South Division team will suffer its first loss here. In Week 1, Tampa Bay beat the Maulers, 17-3 for Head Coach Todd Haley, while the Breakers beat the Stars, 23-17 for Head Coach Larry Fedora in two games that went Under the Total.

Tampa Bay has an impressive 29 players who have been on NFL Roster before, the hughes number in the USFL and this team hasn’t allowed a TD yet and knows that, and who will be looking to stifle New Orleans QB Kyle Slote, RB Jordan Ellis and the Breakers Offense.

New Orleans (4/1 to win 2022 USFL Championship) played a good game in Week 1, holding off the Stars, 23-17, as Jordan Ellis, and TJ Logan rushed the Breakers to the win and Davin Bellamy (3 sacks) and the New Orleans Defense shined at Protective Stadium.

Where to Watch the USFL on TV and Streaming Services

TV partners for the USFL are NBC, FOX, FS1, the USA Network, as wel as the Peacock and fuboTV streaming services. All games will be played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so this is a weekend league with all of the eight teams east of the Mississippi but Houston.
