BLAST Premier Spring group stage has been one heck of a ride, that’s for sure! More than half of matches played thus far were massive upsets. Astralis are already out of the equation, just like Vitality… and mind you, they were the heavy favorites in their respective groups. Complexity, the team that defeated both G2 and Vitality, is already through to the Spring Finals and await the winner of G2 vs. Evil Geniuses. Why? To win more money, of course; group winners get $25,000 in prize money whereas runners-up get “only” $12,500.
But, we’re here to talk about the far more important match; G2 vs. Evil Geniuses predictions is what we’re here for, boys and girls! Luckily, there’s a ton of valuable info on both teams, not just spreading from their opening-round clash but second-round contests too. If you’re thinking of betting on this match, you might want to get yourself a hot beverage so you can enjoy the show!
G2 vs. Evil Geniuses Betting Predictions
First things first – let’s address the elephant in the room AKA the opening-round h2h clash! G2 stole the show on Inferno and Vertigo, despite going into the second time as the losing side on both maps. Back-to-back comebacks was the name of G2’s name, with huNter and AmaNEk rising up as the key contributors.
And that’s exactly what’s so scary for EG fans ahead of this one. NiKo was absent for the majority of the first match and yet EG still lost 2:0. That pops the Q – what if he shows up for the occasion tomorrow? Will G2 absolutely stomp over EG? Well, it could happen… and our G2 vs. Evil Geniuses predictions have to account for it!
Expectations
Despite all that, people still expect a much tighter contest. Heck, the odds are pretty tight too; tighter than they’ve been for the opening-round clash, that is. It’s understandable, though… after all, the stakes are much higher this time around!
Talking about expectations, prior to the start of the event, everyone saw G2 and Vitality as the prime candidates to qualify for the Spring Finals.
With the latter already dropping down to the Showdown, everyone and their grandmother expect G2 to put an end to the chaotic upset trend. Are you among them?
Form
Form always matter in the world of esports betting, and with several events behind us after the winter break, it’s time to properly address it! Starting off with G2, they couldn’t find that extra oomph to finish 2020 on a stronger note. NiKo’s arrival did boost their core, but didn’t result in any concrete title runs.
Evil Geniuses’ end of 2020 was a disaster, and from the looks of things, they’re starting 2021 off on the same note. Poor displays on BLAST Premier Global Final and DreamHack Open January leave plenty to be desired. CeRq and Brehze need to wake up if they are to remain relevant on the international stage!
Map Depth
Last time out, G2 won Inferno and Vertigo. To be frank, they played the banning phase rather poorly but still ended up with a 2:0 win. This time around, I expect them to snatch Dust 2 or Mirage, depending on what Evil Geniuses remove first. The opening ban choice was Dust 2, and when everyone expected G2 to pull Mirage out of their sleeve, they opted for Vertigo.
I reckon we won’t see the same map lineup tomorrow, even though that’s commonly the case in these types of scenarios. Evil Geniuses could force Inferno again, seeing as they were pretty solid on the T side… and while they do have the quality to pull it off, if NiKo bounces back, their efforts are going to be for nothing.
Roster Strengths
The opening-round h2h clash between these two perfectly showcased G2’s roster superiority. NiKo wasn’t at his best, but the likes of huNter and AmaNEk rose up to the challenge with marvelous displays. That goes to show you G2 is more than just NiKo – they have a strong core and capable bottom-dwellers ready to pop off at any given round. That’s what makes me feel confident in today’s G2 vs. EG picks – that’s what makes me confident G2 are going to qualify for the BLAST Premier Spring Finals.
And finally, that’s what led me to the following conclusion:
G2 vs. Evil Geniuses Pick
Pick: G2 to Win
Odds: -134
$100 Could Win You…$174.63

As much as I’d like to bet on the underdogs here, for the sake of following the trend of upsets if nothing else, I just have to be reasonable and invest my money on G2. They failed us yesterday, they better not do it again tomorrow!
Realistically, though, G2 should have the upper hand here. I mean, Evil Geniuses will have learned something from their opening-round clash by the time they face G2 again tomorrow. And while I do think they’re going to come into this match better prepared, I reckon it won’t matter that much in the end. They’re still going to lose and face a tough patch of Spring Showdown matches in April.
That’d be all from our G2 vs. Evil Geniuses picks.
Let’s hope another upset doesn’t mess up our wagers yet again!
