Mike Tyson’s next exhibition boxing bout will be in May at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
Iron Mike himself broke the news during Wednesday’s edition of his “Hotboxin” with Mike Tyson Podcast where Mexican boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez and his trainer Eddie Reynoso were guests.
The impromptu announcement was made when Reynoso asked Tyson when he would fight again. Co-host Henry Cejudo, a former champ-champ in the UFC, told Iron Mike to “drop the news now”. It was then when Tyson revealed that his next fight would be during the “end of May” and at “the same arena” where Canelo fought Avni Yildirim earlier this month.

Although Tyson did not name his next opponent, it’s widely believed that it is going to be former rival and heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield. Holyfield has been campaigning for a Tyson fight since last year and last December, the Real Deal said that it was likely that the fight is happening.
Tyson vs Holyfield 3?
Holyfield has a long history with Tyson. The two were supposed to fight in 1991 but Tyson went to jail for a rape case. Five years later, they finally met inside the squared circle. The best boxing betting sites had Holyfield as a huge underdog but he stopped Iron Mike in the 11th round to become a three-time heavyweight champion.

The two ran it back seven months later at the same venue and for the same belt. The result was the same as well but with controversy.
Tyson was disqualified for biting Holyfield’s ear and literally taking a chunk off it. That caused Tyson to be suspended for a year and a half from the sport, with Iron Mike losing out on an estimated $100M in fight purses for what could have been three bouts during that period.
Long after the two legends have retired, the “Bite Fight” is still a topic of conversation. Holyfield fought into his late 40’s but is now almost a senior citizen at 58 and has not fought since knocking out Brian Nielsen in 2014. However, the Real Deal has been training like a maniac ever since Tyson announced he would be coming back for exhibition fights. Unfortunately for him, it was Roy Jones Jr. who landed the first crack at Iron Mike. But more likely than not, Holyfield will be next.
I’m Back
Mike Tyson shocked the world when he announced at the height of the pandemic that “he’s back” with a training video showing him hitting the mitts like he never left the sport. For a while, it was thought that Iron Mike would be fighting professionally again. But given his age, he later clarified that he would be doing a series of exhibition boxing bouts.

The first one was against former four-division world champion Roy Jones Jr. last November 28th at Los Angeles’ Staples Center. Tyson and Jones fought over 8 rounds and the bout ended in a split draw. After the fight, Tyson reiterated that his return was not a one-shot deal. And almost immediately after that, Holyfield began calling out Iron Mike.
Tyson is one of the most popular figures in the sport of boxing. Iron Mike was the youngest fighter to ever win the heavyweight title and the first to hold the WBA, WBC, and IBF belts simultaneously and unify them in succession. He went undefeated and looked nearly unbeatable in his first 37 fights before Buster Douglas stopped him in 1990 in one of the biggest betting upsets ever. Tyson is a slight -135 betting favorite at online sportsbook Bovada if the near-senior citizen Holyfield would be his next opponent.
