“America’s premier short track,” the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Virginia is the historic site for this week’s NASCAR race, the 2022 Toyota Owners 400 set for this coming Sunday, April 3 (TV: FOX, Radio: MRN, 3:30 pm EDT/2:30 pm CDT/12:30 pm PDT).
The seventh race on the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series schedule, the 400-lap, 300-mile Toyota Owners 400 should be an exciting race and have a great finish but it will be hard to top what we saw last Sunday in Austin, with Allmendinger, Bowman, and winner Chastain.
Richmond Short Track a Great Place for NextGen Value?
Last Sunday in the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series EchoPark Texas Automotive Grand Prix from the Circuit of the Americas, Chastain (20/1) was the longshot winner in the Road Course race, topping my pick, Bowman (18/1), who finished in 2nd place after a fantastic finish.
Christoper Bell (18/1) finished in 3rd place in his Toyota behind Bowman (Chevrolet) with Chase Elliott (+250) and his Chevrolet in 4th place, followed by Tyler Reddick (28/1) and yet another Chevrolet, with four Chevrolets in the Top 5 in Austin last week.
The Weather forecast from The Weather Channel Richmond on Sunday afternoon is calling for a mix of Sun and Clouds, a High temperature of 67° with Winds near 14 mph on a day where there may actually be Sun after a week of Rain, Storms, and a Tornado Watch.

With Chastain winning last weekend, Chevrolets (+110 to win Car make Group at Toyota Owners 400) have now won four races (Bowman, Larson, Byron, Chastain) with Ford (+250) seeing the checkered flag twice (Cindric, Briscoe), and with Toyotas (+220) at zero,

Expecting More of the Same Top 5 in Richmond on Sunday
We have had six different winners in the first six NASCAR races this new season and the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Toyota Owners 400 at the Richmond Raceway in Richmond may deliver our seventh winner in seven. Or maybe or first repeat winner? Tune in and see.
With Chevrolets and longer shots doing well and Toyotas and some favorites not faring as well, why not stick with what’s working? Or maybe gambling by backing someone who looks like they’re maybe ready to win, like NASCAR Xfinity Series driver AJ Allmendinger.
Last week, Allmendiger almost won at Austin in the Sunday NASCAR Cup Series and he did win on Saturday in the 2022 Xfinity Series Pit Boss in the Texas capital and he will be running in the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series Go Bowling 250 on Saturday so he’s in tune.
And with Allmendiger and his No. 16 Chevrolet Camaro ZL racing for longest Team shots Kaulig Racing (60/1 to win 2022 Go Bowling 250), is this a great chance to throw $5 or maybe even $50 on Kaulig? A $50 wager would pay $3,000 should Allmendinger win here.
Among Drivers, Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch have won this race the most (4) with Dale Earnhardt, Jr. winning thrice, The Teams with the most Wins are Dale Earnhardt and Joe Gibbs Racing (5), so oddsmakers have it right with the Gibbs Team at +236 (to win) here.
You’re going to like some of these schemes! ?

And the (Car) Manufacturer with the most checkered flags at the Go Bowling 250 is Chevrolet (17), followed by Ford (10), Toyota (5), and Buick, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac all having won three times at this three-quarter mile long Oval asphalt track in Richmond.
The 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Regular Season is scheduled to conclude on Saturday, August 27 with the 2022 Coke Zero Sugar 400 from the Daytona Speedway in Daytona Beach, FL. This NASCAR Cup Series season is the first using the new NextGen cars.
The 2022 NASCAR Playoffs will rev up with the CookOut Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway in Darlington, SC, on September 4 and will end in the Sonoran Desert with the NASCAR Series Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, AZ on November 6.
The 2022 NASCAR Cup Series stays in Virginia next weekend at Martinsville Speedway in Martinsville on Saturday, April 9 for the night running of the Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 400 (TV: FOX, Radio: MRN; 7:30 pm ET/6:30 pm CT/5:30 pm MT/4:30 pm PT).
