Well race fans, the Las Vegas Grand Prix will remain on the Formula 1 calendar at least through 2027. This announcement comes following a two-year contract extension, which was reached during the Canadian Grand Prix.
The inaugural race in 2023 faced several issues, including inflated ticket and hotel prices, not to mention a disrupted practice session caused by a loose water valve cover. The incident damaged Carlos Sainz Jr.’s car and delayed the second practice until 4 a.m., forcing fans to leave before it resumed.
In response, organizers lowered prices and moved the 2024 race start time from 10 p.m. to 8 p.m. Held the weekend before Thanksgiving, the event has significantly boosted November tourism, making it the most commercially successful month in Las Vegas history.
The Las Vegas Grand Prix, which takes place along the iconic Las Vegas Strip, is backed by local casino interests and has a 10-year approval from Clark County to use the route. Although the 2026 race was already listed on the F1 schedule released earlier in the week, the official extension confirms the event’s presence through at least 2027.
Originally launched in 2023 with only a three-year deal, the event has quickly transformed into a major economic driver for Las Vegas, generating $934 million in revenue and $45 million in taxes in its second year. Some commuters and casino workers find the even to be an inconvenience, but at this point is doesn’t look like the Las Vegas Grand Prix is going anywhere for a while.
