Betsson Group has launched the Betsson Foundation, a registered public benefit foundation that will bring its charitable, community, and sports-related initiatives under one organisation.
The foundation will coordinate and scale the group’s social impact activities across its markets, working with employees, partners, and local organisations.
Betsson has supported local communities through employee-led fundraising, grassroots projects, community and CSR initiatives, as well as partnerships with football clubs and athletes. The foundation will bring existing and new initiatives under a shared framework to strengthen collaboration and increase their long-term impact.
“Sport and community engagement have long been part of Betsson’s DNA,” said Jesper Svensson, CEO of Betsson Operations. “The launch of the Betsson Foundation strengthens our ability to support the people, programmes and organisations making a positive difference in our communities.”
He added that the launch will allow Betsson to work more closely with its clubs and athlete partners to connect the reach of sport with community initiatives.
“Through the Betsson Foundation, we aim to create lasting positive impact by supporting worthy causes, fostering long-term partnerships, and bringing together initiatives that strengthen communities across our locations”, said Jonna Danlund, Director of ESG.
Sport will remain a central focus, with the foundation using Betsson’s global sports partnerships to expand the reach of its initiatives. It will also build on existing partnerships and identify new opportunities across Betsson’s markets.
One example is its support for Boosting Up, a five-year programme in Peru that supports 22 participants from a school in Lima through football, English-language education and nutritional support.
The foundation has been incorporated in Malta as a separate legal entity and operates under a governance framework comprising the founding company, a Board of Administrators, and a Supervisory Council.
The structure provides oversight and accountability while supporting the foundation’s philanthropic objectives and compliance with applicable legal requirements, Betsson said.
