Could the stars align for Siskin (9/4) to seal another signature win by taking the Sussex Stakes?
The Irish 2,000 Guineas winner looks in impenetrable form heading into this one. However, the three-year-old has yet to be tested on UK soil as he makes his Goodwood debut. That could hand Kameko (13/2) the chance to make amends for a disappointing Derby outing by sealing another landmark win in the Sussex.
The 5/2F flattered to deceive that day, but he’s returning to the 1m mark that suited him so well in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket back in June. With Oisin Murphy retaining the ride, he stands every chance of stopping Siskin’s hot streak.
We’ve seen a few surprises this summer in Group 1 races – most notably Serpentine stealing the Derby – so one very intriguing runner to watch is Vatican City (20/1). He lacks some of the raw pace of his rivals but stuck with Siskin to land a credible second in the Irish 2,000 Guineas and looks worthy each-way value to place.
