SUMMER TRANSFER WINDOW 2020
PREMIER LEAGUE TRANSFER RUMOURS
With just a six-week break between the end of the 2019/20 season and the start of 2020/21, Premier League managers are going to be in for an even busier summer transfer window than usual this summer.
As the transfer rumour mill hots up, it’s easy to lose track of who’s in and who’s out at each Premier League club.
Let us do the hard work for you…
Premier League Rumours – Summer Transfer Window
ARSENAL
Ins: N/A
Outs: N/A
Latest Rumours: Ousmane Dembele (Barcelona) – ESPN; Philippe Coutinho (Barcelona) – Daily Mail; Willian, Daily Mail
Story so far: European qualification as a result of winning the FA Cup has handed Mikel Arteta a transfer boost this summer as he looks to overhaul his squad. Keeping hold of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang looks to be his biggest priority in the short term.
ASTON VILLA
Ins: N/A
Outs: N/A
Latest Rumours: Ollie Watkins & Saïd Benrahma (Brentford) – The Sun; Odsonne Edouard (Celtic) – Daily Record
Story so far: Villa pulled off a great escape on the final day, but their first campaign back at this level was overshadowed by a poor transfer strategy off the field. After splashing the cash last summer to build a Premier League-ready squad, expect Villa to be more selective this time around with a new recruitment team now in place.
BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION
Ins: Adam Lallana, Liverpool; Jensen Weir, Wigan; Joel Veltman, Ajax
Outs: N/A
Latest Rumours: Josh King (Bournemouth) – Telegraph
Story so far: The Seagulls have stolen a march on many of their Premier League rivals with some eye-catching early transfers. A fit Adam Lallana would add some much-needed spark to the Albion midfield, while Ajax stalwart Joel Veltman could be a steal at £900k.
BURNLEY
Ins: N/A
Outs: Joe Hart; Jeff Hendrick; Aaron Lennon (all released)
Latest Rumours: Troy Deeney (Watford); Teemu Pukki (Norwich City) – Burnley Express
Story so far: Rumours of tension behind the scenes between Shaun Dyche and the Burnley board have marred the start of this transfer window for the Clarets, but you wouldn’t bet against them unearthing some value in an overheated market.
CHELSEA
Ins: Timo Werner, RB Leipzig; Hakim Ziyech, Ajax
Outs: N/A
Latest Rumours: Kai Havertz (Bayer Leverkusen) – The Sun; Lewis Dunk (Brighton) – Express
Story so far: Chelsea are finally free of their transfer ban and they aren’t wasting any time as they bid to close the gap on Liverpool and Man City. Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech both look A-List additions, and the Blues could be further strengthened by the arrival of Bundesliga wonderkid Kai Havertz. Some strengthening at the back wouldn’t go amiss either.
CRYSTAL PALACE
Ins: Nathan Ferguson, West Brom
Outs: N/A
Latest Rumours: Ryan Fraser (free) – Daily Mail; Eberechi Eze (QPR) – Standard
Story so far: Roy Hodgson and Crystal Palace face a few transfer dilemmas this summer with a Palace squad that looks in desperate need of a refresh – preferably with some younger recruits. The Wilfried Zaha transfer saga looks set to rumble on for yet another summer, but will there be any takers in a post-Covid climate?
EVERTON
Ins: Niels Nkounkou, Marseille
Outs: N/A
Latest Rumours: Gabriel (Lille); Idrissa Gueye (PSG) – Liverpool Echo
Story so far: Carlo Ancelotti could have the hardest task of any Premier League manager this summer as he looks to clear out a whole host of Toffees misfits while freshening up a bloated squad. Much touted Director of Football Marcel Brands will really earn his money this summer.
FULHAM
Ins: N/A
Outs: N/A
Latest Rumours: Harry Arter (Bournemouth); Harrison Reed (Southampton) – Standard
Story so far: It’s been a whirlwind week for Scott Parker and Fulham, who don’t have much time to strengthen before their return to the Premier League begins. That might not be such a bad thing, with Parker already admitting the Cottagers will be more cautious this summer after a disastrous recruitment drive two summers ago.
LEEDS UTD
Ins: N/A
Outs: N/A
Latest Rumours: Michy Batshuayi (Chelsea) – Leeds Live; Saïd Benrahma & Ollie Watkins (Brentford) – Express
Story so far: It’s set to be a fascinating summer at Elland Road as Leeds look to re-establish themselves at top-flight level. Marcelo Bielsa will be looking for players that can meet his high standards, so Leeds fans may have to be patient as he identifies his targets.
LEICESTER CITY
Ins: N/A
Outs: Calvin Bassey, Rangers
Latest Rumours: Francisco Trancao (Barcelona) – The Guardian
Story so far: Brendan Rodgers will probably be more occupied with potential outgoings from the King Power this season before adding to his squad. Leicester could face a busy summer batting the Big Six away.
LIVERPOOL
Ins: N/A
Outs: Pedro Chirivella, Nantes
Latest Rumours: Thiago (Bayern Munich), Jamal Lewis (Norwich City) – Talksport
Story so far: Jürgen Klopp often says he is happy with his Liverpool squad as it is, but it seems likely that he will attempt to strengthen it at some stage this summer. The links with Thiago won’t go away, although there are doubts that The Reds will pay the £30 million Bayern are asking for.
MAN CITY
Ins: Ferran Torres, Valencia; Nathan Ake, Bournemouth
Outs: Leroy Sane, Bayern Munich
Latest Rumours: Kalidu Koulibaly (Napoli) – Manchester Evening news
Story so far: Pep Guardiola is acting quickly this summer, replacing the wantaway Leroy Sane almost immediately with the young Ferran Torres of Valenicia. He now also has an excellent new defender in Nathan Ake. Pep means business ahead of the 2020/21 season.

Outs: Angel Gomes, Lille; Alexis Sanchez, Inter Milan
Latest Rumours: Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund) – BBC Sport
Story so far: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems desperate to sign Jadon Sancho this summer, but Dortmund are adamant they won’t sell for less than £109 million. It seems likely that the deal will happen, but United will be keen to make it happen sooner rather than later.
NEWCASTLE UTD
Ins: N/A
Outs: N/A
Latest Rumours: Josh King & David Brooks (Bournemouth) – Telegraph
Story so far: The Saudi Arabian-backed consortium pulling out of a bid to buy Newcastle United sums up Newcastle’s luck over the last few years. Will Mike Ashley back Steve Bruce, or will the club be sold in time for signings to be made?
SOUTHAMPTON
Ins: Mohammed Salisu, Real Valladolid
Outs: N/A
Latest Rumours: Kyle Walker-Peters (Tottenham Hotspur) – Evening Standard
Story so far: Ralph Hasenhüttl enjoyed an excellent campaign last year with Southampton, finishing 11th and exceeding the 50-point mark. A few more sensible signings like 21-year-old Mohammed Salisu to improve the defence will allow the Saints to push further up the table.
SHEFFIELD UTD
Ins: N/A
Outs: Dean Henderson (back to parent club),Manchester United
Latest Rumours: Aaron Ramsdale (Bournemouth) – The Sun
Story so far: Chris Wilder and Sheffield United were a breath of fresh air last season in the Premier League, flirting with the European places for the majority of the campaign. They’ll need to replace the excellent Dean Henderson if they are to challenge again.
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR
Ins: N/A
Outs: Troy Parrott, Millwall (loan)
Latest Rumours: Pierre Emile Hojbjerg (Southampton) – The Guardian
Story so far: Jose Mourinho may have managed to guide Spurs to a sixth place finish last season, but he knows he badly needs to improve his squad. It could be an interesting summer in North London – provided he gets the investment he was surely promised before taking the role.
WEST BROM
Ins: N/A
Outs: N/A
Latest Rumours: Jesse Lingard (Man Utd) – The Sun; Antonee Robinson (Wigan) – Birmingham Mail
Story so far: The Baggies bounced over the finish line despite a few wobbles along the way as Slaven Bilic succeeded in his promotion mission. West Brom look a little short on out-and-out Premier League quality, but expect this ultimate yo-yo team to be as sensible as ever in their summer splurging.
WEST HAM
Ins: N/A
Outs: N/A
Latest Rumours: Jesse Lingard & Phil Jones (Man Utd) – The Sun; Martin Braithwaite (Barcelona) – talkSPORT
Story so far: David Moyes has surely earned the right to reshape this mish-mash of a West Ham squad after comfortably guiding the Hammers away from dangers towards the end of the season. Keeping hold of Declan Rice will be a top priority.
WOLVES
Ins: N/A
Outs: N/A
Latest Rumours: Rafinha (Barcelona) – Birmingham Mail
Story so far: The transfer window is probably the last thing on Nuno’s mind after spending the last few weeks planning their assault on the Europa League. If it’s anything like previous years, expect some smart acquisitions from the continent.
