3 NFL Win Totals to Bet the Over On in 2020: Colts, Cardinals and Bills

With training camps in full swing, NFL teams are gearing up for the season and fans are getting excited for a year unlike any other. With that said, betting on football has also heated up with NFL win totals for the 2020 season.

Although there will be no preseason games to gauge how good teams or players are, we still have plenty of data to look at in order to make informed wagers. With that in mind, the following is our Top 3 teams that you should take the Over on for their respective win totals:

Arizona Cardinals Win Total

• Over 7 wins (-130)
• Under 7 wins (+110)

Heading into the 2019 season, Arizona was coming off a significant rebuild. Some of the major highlights of that rebuild were hiring a new head coach and drafting a franchise QB in Kyler Murray.

Murray showed plenty of promise last year and has given Cardinals fans plenty of optimism heading into the 2020 season. Additionally, the team made several offseason moves to add top shelf talent to this roster.

The biggest move was trading for DeAndre Hopkins, who is one of the best receivers in the league. His presence will open up this offense tremendously, take the pressure off other receivers, give Murray a go-to weapon, and aid in the run game as well.

Speaking of the running game, Kenyan Drake had a breakout season last year and the team brought him back with the hopes of building off his 2019 success. Change of pace back Chase Edmonds will also add the speed element to this dynamic offense.

These two talented running backs made it possible to trade David Johnson for DeAndre Hopkins, which greatly improved the offense.

Another area that improved was the offensive line. They were one of the worst units in 2018 and moved up to bottom 1/3^rd last year. This offseason, they drafted Josh Jones who could be a Day 1 starter at right tackle. Additionally, several younger o-linemen took a big step forward in progress last season.

Defensively, the Cardinals brought in more reinforcement along the d-line to aid their top star Chandler Jones who had 19 sacks last season. Arizona brought in Jordan Phillips who had 10 sacks last year in Buffalo. Devon Kennard came over from Detroit as well.

Arizona drafted one of the best playmakers this year when they selected linebacker Isaiah Simmons from Clemson. He will certainly help boost an average group of LBs and cover tight ends, which was a huge problem for the team in 2019.

The secondary should have a bounce back season from Peterson and Alford to help make this defensive unit even stouter. There’s a lot of talent in Arizona, but can they improve on their 5-10-1 record from last season?

The Cardinals 2020 Schedule

The Cardinals start off the year against the San Francisco 49ers. That’s a tough matchup for which they’re not expected to win. However, following that divisional contest, the Cardinals definitely have winnable games against Washington, Detroit, Carolina and the Jets.

I believe Arizona can start off the season 4-1 or 3-2. Then they will hit a tough stretch with games against: Dallas, Seattle, Miami, Buffalo, Seattle, New England and the Rams. That’s most likely a 2-5 stretch where the Cardinals could be 6-6 or 5-7 heading into the final four games of the year.

Those four games are the Giants, Philadelphia, 49ers and Rams. I believe that the Cardinals can go 2-2 in this stretch with wins over the Giants and the Rams in the last game of the season.

Last year, the Cardinals went 1-5 in the division. This year, I can see them going 2-4 or 3-3 at best.

The success for this team in 2020 comes down to the duo of Murray and Hopkins along with the offensive line. If these areas see improvement then don’t be surprised if Arizona goes 9-7.

More than likely, I see the Cardinals going 8-8 in 2020. But, they will hit the Over 7 wins. At worse, it’s a push.

Buffalo Bills Win Total

Coming off their second Playoff appearance in three years, the Buffalo Bills added even more talent this offseason to an already stacked roster.

Their biggest move was trading for a #1 receiver in Stefon Diggs from the Vikings. His addition gives Buffalo one of the top trio of receivers in the AFC as Diggs joins John Brown and Cole Beasley.

The Bills brought back their entire offensive line with a few veteran additions for depth. They have a good young group of TEs and a dynamic backfield with running backs Devin Singletary and rookie Zack Moss.

Of course, this entire season comes down to QB Josh Allen taking another step forward on the field with his accuracy and pocket acumen. He has the physical tools of an athlete similar to Patrick Mahomes and took a solid step forward last year. However, that won’t be enough this season if the Bills want to be a legit Playoff contender.

Defensively, the Bills have one of the best units in the NFL. They were Top 3 in many statistical categories last year and added even more talent to the squad this offseason.

The Bills brought in defensive linemen Vernon Butler, Quinton Jefferson and Mario Addison to replace Jordan Philips, Shaq Lawson and Star Lotulelei.

Ed Oliver showed his potential last year as a rookie and is expected to be even better this year. Additionally, Harrison Phillips returns from a knee injury last year to bring even more talent to the d-line. Second round pick AJ Epenesa could be a real steal as he was one of the top d-linemen in the 2020 Draft.

Buffalo’s linebackers are young, but extremely talented with Tremaine Edmonds and Matt Milano leading the way. They added veterans A.J. Klein and Tyler Matakevich for depth and special teams.

If that wasn’t impressive enough, the Bills will also have one of the best secondary units in the league. Tre’Davious White is one of the elite corners in the league and he’s joined by one of the best safety tandems in the NFL – Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde.

Buffalo’s 2020 Schedule

Buffalo opens up against the Jets and Dolphins to start the year. That should be two wins. In fact, I have Buffalo going at least 4-2 in the AFC East this season. Then they play the Rams, Raiders, Titans, and Chiefs. This could be a 2-2 stretch bringing their record to 4-2 overall.

From there, the Bills play the Jets, Patriots, Seahawks and Cardinals before their Bye Week. I see at least 2-2 over these games and possibly 3-1 as the Patriots have taken a step back this year. Bringing Buffalo to a 6-4 record at worse. Possibly even 7-3 or 8-2.

Following the Bye, Buffalo plays the Chargers, 49ers, Steelers, Broncos, Patriots and Dolphins. Buffalo should go at least 3-3 in this stretch. That gives them a bottom line record of 9-7 on the season.

When you look at the AFC East division, Buffalo is the best team and should win the division for the first time this century. I believe the Bills will be a double digit win team in 2020 and a legitimate Playoff contender. If you’re looking for a team to bet against, I would look away from the Bills.

Indianapolis Colts Win Total

• Under 8.5 wins (+135)

The Indianapolis Colts have made a lot of offseason moves to put themselves in a position to make the Playoffs and possibly win the AFC South division.

Their offseason starts with the big signing of free agent QB Philip Rivers. Yes, he’s getting up there in age, but he is an upgrade over Brissett and provides the veteran leadership that this offense needs.

He’s also playing behind one of the best offensive lines in the league, which will keep him upright in the pocket. Rivers struggled last year with the Chargers due to their patchwork o-line that struggled in pass blocking.

The Colts have playmakers all around rivers with stud receiver TY Hilton and a couple of young wideouts in Parris Campbell and rookie Michael Pittman Jr. along with the reliable TE Jack Doyle.

Defensively, this team got a lot better with the additions of DT DeForest Buckner who will bring disruption in the front four. Behind him on the field is one of the best young LBs in Darius Leonard.

The secondary also improved as they added veteran corners Xavier Rhodes and T.J. Carrie to go along with the playmaking safety Malik Hooker.

Indy’s 2020 Schedule

The Colts have six games before their Bye Week and they could definitely be on top of the division by that point in the season. The Colts play the Jaguars, Vikings, Jets, Bears, Browns and Bengals. I can see them going 5-1 entering their Bye Week.

Following the Bye, they have Detroit, Baltimore, Tennessee, Green Bay, Tennessee and Houston. I see a 3-3 record of this stretch. The Packers and Ravens are losses. Additionally, I see them splitting with the Titans this year.

In their final four games of these season, the Colts play the Raiders, Texans, Steelers and Jaguars. That should be a 3-1 one stretch or 2-2 if they rest starters in the final game of the season against Jacksonville. So, even if it’s 2-2, that should mean the Colts go 10-6 or 9-7 at worse.

The AFC South won’t be as good as last year. The Titans are limited in their run heavy offense, the Texans have lost too much talent, and the Jaguars are rebuilding. Indy should go at least 4-2 in the division, if not 5-1.

With plenty of talent on both sides of the ball, an improved QB, and an infusion of playmakers on defense, this team should win the AFC South division in 2020.

An O/U of 8.5 wins is just silly to me. Even if it goes up to an O/U of 9 wins, I’m still taking the Colts to go Over. Indy will be a double digit win team this season.
