UK gaming tax intake has risen in H1 of 2022-23. For the six months to September 30, provisional betting and gaming tax revenue was up by 11% from £1.46 billion ($1.63 billion) to £1.62 billion ($1.81 billion) when paired against the same period the previous year. The Cordish Companies is eyeing Wagner Road and Interstate 95 as the location for its proposed Petersburg, Virginia casino. The plan to develop a gaming property on the south side of the city was revealed by Sen. Joe Morrissey, D-Richmond, on Wednesday. However, the project is dependent on whether the General Assembly allows Richmond to seek a second casino referendum. Digital lottery company Jumbo Interactive announced Thursday it has completed the acquisition of UK External Lottery Manager and digital payments company StarVale Group, in a deal that was agreed upon in January 2022, for a total consideration of EUR 23 million ($22.4 million).  The transaction was completed on November 1, following the satisfaction of all closing conditions under the terms of the purchase agreement, and the receipt of regulatory approval from the Great Britain Gambling Commission in October. iGaming and sports betting company NorthStar Gaming has been named an Authorized Gaming Operator of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Casino and online gaming operator Bally’s announced Thursday its financial results for the third quarter ended on September 30, which showed revenue of $578.2 million, up 4.7% from Q2 and 83.7% above Y-o-Y; and a net income of $0.6 million. Last Week, Macau’s MGM Cotai casino was ordered to shut down for three days with a total of 1,500 staff and guests ordered to stay inside after a dealer was found to be infected with COVID.
