New South Wales gaming floors will install facial recognition technology to improve identification of those wishing to self-exclude, enhancing safe gambling in the region. Clark County commissioners have given Houston mogul Tilman Fertitta the green light to develop a towering casino resort on the Las Vegas Strip. The commission approved the billionaire’s plans on Wednesday, which call for a 43-story, 2,420-room project in the casino corridor. The upscale resort is set to be located at the southeast corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Harmon Avenue. According to local media reports, the number of Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) in Macau has seen a 13.4% year-over-year decrease to 1677 in the first nine months of 2022. According to a report from the Financial Intelligence Office, STRs proceeding from casino operators fell by 15.5% year-over-year to 866 during the period from January to September. The total represents 51.6% of all the STRs, down from 52.9% the prior year. Louisiana’s Treasure Chest Casino is set to relocate to land after nearly 30 years of operating as a floating casino in suburban New Orleans. Officials for the casino broke ground Tuesday on a new site that will house a development of more than $100 million, replacing the current riverboat once the land-based property opens its doors in 2024.
