Massachusetts gaming regulators have hired consultants to aid with sports betting as the state works on launching the upcoming legal wagering industry by late January. The Massachusetts Gaming Commission announced it would be calling in reinforcements at its latest meeting, held Thursday, in which Executive Director Karen Wells unveiled the regulator has hired testing and certification firm Gaming Laboratories International to assist with standards. Sports betting and media company Rivalry Corp. has announced preliminary record betting handle and revenue for the third quarter of the year. The Arlington Heights Plan Commission agreed Wednesday to recommend that the Village Board approve amending the zoning for the Arlington International Racecourse site to allow for a sports betting facility there, exclusively under the condition of a professional sports stadium at the location.  The move comes after the NFL’s Chicago Bears team signed in 2021 a $197 million purchase agreement for the racecourse. International Game Technology (IGT) announced Wednesday that its subsidiary IGT Global Solutions Corporation has signed a seven-year contract extension with the Georgia Lottery Corporation. The partnership will see the company deploy its lottery and iLottery products and technology, with the aim of “enhancing the modernization of the Georgia Lottery’s offerings.” The contract extension will run through September 2032. The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) reported 76 cases of suspicious betting to the relevant authorities during the third quarter of 2022, according to a report published Wednesday. The Q3 total is a decrease of 15% when compared to the 89 cases in Q2, but up 17% from the 65 alerts in Q3, 2021. The Q3 alerts covered eight sports, with the top four of tennis (33 cases), esports (16), football (13), and table tennis (10) accounting for 95% of all alerts.
