Florida Supreme Court is set to mull a proposed constitutional amendment which would let pari-mutuel operators in North Florida add casino games to their operations. Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody asked the court on Friday to consider the proposal. A judge on Thursday morning ordered New Jersey to let him know by January 13 whether it is “agreeable to proceed with mediation” in Atlantic County’s lawsuit against the new casino tax break, The Press of Atlantic City reports. New Jersey Gov. As reported by the state of Maryland, December’s revenue in gaming for the area’s six casinos generated a combined $172.9 million, marking the last month of the year as the second-best for total gaming revenue. The total was 44.9% more than gaming revenue in December 2020. Casinos were still operating under COVID-19-related capacity restrictions a year earlier.  The record for gaming revenue set by the state’s casinos was in July 2021, when the total was $180.1 million.  The best year-over-year gain came at MGM National Harbor, where $74.5 million in December gaming revenue was up 53.5% from the previous December.…

A Norfolk senator is introducing a new bill to prevent casinos from getting Tax–Increment Financing (TIF). Sen. Mike Flood introduced Legislative Bill 713 on Wednesday to prohibit redevelopment plans with TIF related to casinos and licensed tracks. The proposal Nebraska residents passed in 2020, legalizing casinos in the state, mandated venues to pay a 20% tax on gross gambling revenue, of which 70% would go to the state’s property tax credit fund. The NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders are reportedly weighing the idea of hiring Matt Maddox, the outgoing chief executive officer of Wynn Resorts, according to a report by the New York Post.
