Georgia’s parliament passed a bill Wednesday imposing restrictions on gambling, including the rise of the age limit for gambling, banning advertisements, and increased taxes on the industry.  The package law includes the imposition of a 10% tax on gross gaming revenue as opposed to the current tax on profits, as well as a 2% tax on winnings. Scientific Games Corporation this week announced that it has withdrawn its previously announced July 15, 2021 all-stock offer to acquire the remaining 19% equity interest in SciPlay that it does not currently own. New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy has signed the casino PILOT bill into law, which gives tax relief to Atlantic City’s casinos by removing sports and online gaming revenues -the two fastest-growing verticals in the state’s casino industry- from the calculation of their payments in lieu of taxes.
