Philippines gaming regulator PAGCOR is targeting industry-wide gross gaming revenues of $4.5 billion in 2023, supported by a faster-than-expected pandemic recovery following the re-opening of international borders last year.  The revised target, submitted to the Governance Commission for GOCCs as part of PAGCOR’s 2023 Performance Scorecard, comes after the Philippines-wide GGR of $3 billion in 2022 exceeded the agency’s initial estimates. Australian casino giant Crown Resorts revealed it has allegedly fallen victim to a data breach. The casino giant was recently contacted by a ransomware group that claims they illegally obtained a number of files.  A Crown Resorts spokesman said in a statement on Monday that the validity of the claim is being investigated as a matter of priority. The American Gaming Association (AGA) has announced updates to the association’s Responsible Marketing Code for Sports Wagering – which sets the industry standard for marketing and advertising of sports wagering – including increased protections for college-aged bettors and a ban on the use of the term “risk-free” promotion. The Australian Institute of Family Studies has revealed the extent of harm gambling is causing to the country in a new survey. The research showed most surveyed participants believed there were “too many opportunities to gamble” and shows a majority of Australians support banning gambling advertising on TV. The research found that 38% of the adult population gambled at least weekly. Three in four Australians gambled at least once during the past 12 months and, of those, almost half (46%) were classified as being at some risk of harm from wagering. Michigan commercial and tribal operators reported combined iGaming and online sports betting gross revenue of $170.8 million during February. While receipts were up 17.6% on a yearly basis, they fell 8.8% compared with January’s results of $187.3 million.  Internet gaming gross revenue for February was $148.2 million, down 3.6% compared with the Michigan record gross receipts of $153.69 million reported in January. Meanwhile, gross sports betting receipts were $22.66 million compared with $33.64 million reported in January for a 32.6% decrease.
