The state of Arkansas set new sports gaming records during January. The state’s Department of Finance and Administration revealed an all-time high sports betting total handle of $33 million, a 6.6% increase over December’s numbers, which were the previous record. The Nevada Gaming Commission unanimously approved on Thursday a gaming license for London-based Entain, MGM Resorts International’s 50-50 partner in its BetMGM sports wagering brand.  The licensing included suitability and key employee licensure of several executives, including Entain CEO Jette Nygaard-Andersen, who appeared before commissioners and will become a member of BetMGM’s board, according to Las Vegas Review-Journal. Sports betting services provider Kambi Group has shared its financial report for the fourth quarter of 2022. Revenue in the three-month period amounted to €57.8 million ($60.9 million), up 66% from Q4 2021, including a €12.6 million termination fee from PENN Entertainment. At a Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, the Village of Garden City voted to formally oppose the development of a casino at the Nassau County Hub in Long Island, New York, which had been proposed by gaming and hospitality giant Las Vegas Sands. Gibraltar’s Chief Justice has issued a GBP 5 million worldwide freezing order for the assets of former Mansion CEO Karel Christian Mañasco. The mechanism, described as a court’s “nuclear bomb”, follows claims for damages by the company to the tune of more than GBP 2.3 million. Proponents believe this could be the year Kentucky finally legalizes sports betting, as Republican Rep. Michael Meredith has recently filed new legislation, HB 551, to that end.
