Iowa sports bettors can now place their wagers in person for the first time on tribal land after the vertical launched at the Blackbird Bend Casino near Onawa last Saturday. Churchill Downs Incorporated announced Wednesday that it closed on the sale of 326 acres of the former Arlington International Racecourse property in Arlington Heights, Illinois, to the Chicago Bears for $197.2 million per the agreement announced in September 2021. A minor crime syndicate has been broken up in Nevada, as a William Hill embezzlement operation was detected and stopped up by the Nevada Gaming Control Board recently. Unfortunately, this was not until the criminals had pilfered over $100,000 from the company. A Georgia lawmaker has introduced a new bill that seeks to legalize mobile sports betting without the need for a constitutional amendment. House Bill 380, the “Georgia Lottery Game of Sports Betting Act,” would authorize the Georgia Lottery Corp. to operate and regulate sports wagering in the Peach State.  Under the proposal, revenue from the activity would go to educational programs under the Georgia Lottery, including the HOPE Scholarship and Pre-K education. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) reported that preliminary figures show $84,313,189 was wagered in the Commonwealth through retail and online sportsbooks during this year’s Super Bowl LVII.
