Local regulators greenlighted its proposal for the implementation of online gaming
T
he Government of Buenos Aires City, through its gaming regulator body Buenos Aires City Lottery (‘LOTBA’ in Spanish) has approved the Program for the Implementation of the Online Game Platform presented by Codere, which includes its plans for deployment and execution.
This is the first step in an ongoing process for obtaining the license in this jurisdiction, Codere stated in a press release Wednesday. The proposal was developed by a multidisciplinary team, including its technology and online divisions, led by its local Argentinean team, and it was presented to LOTBA in May this year.
Codere’s regional manager for Latin America (excluding Mexico) Bernado Chena, described the approval as showing “the strength of the group, the quality of its offer and the viability of Codere’s online expansion project in Latin America.”
The next step will require Codere to start executing the strategy outlined in the proposal, including technology development and integrations to its platform, allowing the marketing and/or distribution of the online games included in the approved application, to ensure its solutions are compliant with the city’s iGaming regulations. The company said this project is already underway by a dedicated team.
In Latin America, Codere already operates gaming businesses in Mexico, Colombia, Uruguay and Panama, offering a wide portfolio of products and services.
