- The Undertaker says he believes Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson could be the uniter many are looking for if he runs for president
- Johnson has not ruled out the idea of a run for the White House in the past
- Bovada gives Johnson +3300 odds of winning the 2024 US presidential election
Donald Trump’s shocking victory in the 2016 US presidential election has led many to wonder whether other celebrities could have what it takes to enter the world of presidential politics. Trump was hardly the first entertainer-turned-politician to have made the switch, but he is certainly the most memorable example.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has done just about everything over the years. He rose to fame as a pro wrestler of course, but he is now known as one of the most well-known actors in Hollywood. His immense global popularity has caused some to wonder whether a run for the White House could be in his future.
The Undertaker Approves
While Johnson hasn’t declared his candidacy for any sort of political office just yet, he does have at least one endorsement already. Fellow WWE star The Undertaker recently talked to TMZ about The Rock’s potential as a uniter if he does decide to make the foray into politics.
“He’s so charming, he’s so witty, I think he can be the uniter that people are looking for. I know that he has the charisma. Maybe all it would take would be one eyebrow, and he’d look at the left, raise the eyebrow. Look at the right, raise an eyebrow, and hit ’em with the People’s Elbow.”
The Rock has not formally dismissed the idea of entering the political fray in the future, either. In a recent interview with USA Today, Johnson said,
“I would consider a presidential run in the future if that’s what the people wanted. Truly I mean that, and I’m not flippant in any way with my answer. That would be up to the people…so I would wait, and I would listen. I would have my finger on the pulse, my ear to the ground.”
Johnson formally endorsed Democrat Joe Biden for president last fall, but he has identified himself as a “political independent and centrist” in the past.
The Rock Among 2024 Favorites
Political betting sites are already taking bets on what may happen in the next presidential election in 2024. Many are skeptical that President Biden will run for re-election due to his age. Vice President Kamala Harris is thought to be the Democratic frontrunner if she ultimately decides to run, but the fact that her own campaign crashed and burned ahead of the 2020 election means Harris is far from a lock to earn the nomination.
Bovada is among the sites with 2024 election odds already posted. And, yes, The Rock is among the many names on the list. You can get Johnson at +3300 to win the 2024 election, which gives him similar chances to potential candidates like Stacey Abrams, Ted Cruz, John Kasich, and Cory Booker.
President Biden has pledged to try and unify what has become an increasingly divided country in recent years. However, it will be difficult for him to accomplish the feat considering many falsely believe Biden is an illegitimate president to begin with.
While The Rock actually winning a presidential election may sound like a long shot, let’s not forget that Trump had zero political experience under his belt when he decided to formally run in 2015. The Undertaker added,
“I don’t know, man. There are so many possibilities and if that’s what he chooses to do, I’ll support wholeheartedly his efforts to do so.”
