Bob Arum Talks About the Location for Crawford and Pacquiao to Fight

Bob Arum has helped to put together some of the biggest boxing events in history. Top Rank is one of the biggest promotions in boxing and is the current home of Terence Crawford. The relationship between Arum and Crawford hasn’t been perfect, yet both want to make as much money as possible.

Manny Pacquiao is clearly the opponent to make the most money. This week, Arum spoke about where Crawford and Pacquiao could end up fighting. He claims that an overseas location seems the most-likely right now.

“He [Kenny Porter] came to our office two weeks ago to talk about a Crawford – Porter fight, and then out of nowhere the idea of a tremendous site fee, a possibility of doing Pacquiao-Crawford came up,” Arum said recently. “Obviously, it’s more money for Terence. Terence would prefer a Pacquiao fight than anyone else… Yeah, we’re going to see what happens, and we’ll know this week whether Pacquiao-Crawford can happen. I think Crawford-Spence would do extraordinary good numbers, but Pacquiao-Crawford has more money in it because of a site fee that distorts everything.”

It seems that someone is willing to pay a huge amount of money to host the Crawford vs. Pacquiao fight. We’ve seen this happen many times in recent years. The Joshua vs. Ruiz rematch, for example, took place in Saudi Arabia due to the huge money that was paid to host the fight there.

Saudi Arabia seems like a possible location for the fight between Terence and Manny. This country has been working hard to host big fights recently. If the money is right, all of the parties involved with this fight will likely be open for it.
