The Plaza Hotel has announced that a new Five Guys Vegas will open its first location in downtown this summer. The move comes after a decade-long search by the franchise to find a suitable space within the downtown corridor. The new restaurant will occupy a 2,200 square foot space on the casino floor. It is designed to accommodate 60 guests through a combination of indoor seating and an outdoor patio. This location marks a milestone for the company as it coincides with the 40th anniversary of the brand.
Before the full restaurant opens its doors, Five Guys Vegas plans to launch a specialized hot dog cart this spring. The cart will be situated under the iconic glass dome of the Plaza, positioned next to the Carousel Bar. This outdoor setup is intended to capture foot traffic from the intersection of Fremont and Main streets. The cart will serve all-beef hot dogs that are split and grilled, a preparation method specific to the brand.
Jonathan Jossel, chief executive officer of the Plaza Hotel and Casino, stated that the addition of the brand is part of a broader commitment to provide high-quality food options to guests. He noted that the handmade nature of the menu distinguishes the experience from other quick-service options in the area.
Franchisee Lucas Mitchell confirmed that the location has been in development for some time. Mitchell noted that the company spent ten years looking for the right downtown environment before settling on the Plaza. The downtown opening follows the recent debut of a large flagship location on the Las Vegas Strip, which featured expanded menu items like alcoholic milkshakes and breakfast.
The downtown Five Guys Vegas site will stick to the traditional core menu of made-to-order burgers, hand-cut fries cooked in peanut oil, and milkshakes. Once operational, the restaurant will be open seven days a week. The scheduled hours of operation are from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily, catering to both lunch crowds and late-night casino visitors. This will be the 12th location for the burger chain in the state of Nevada. The Plaza recently cleared the space for this new development after the departure of a previous long-term fast food tenant.
