A series of changes are coming to The Cordish Companies’ Live! Casino Pittsburgh in Westmoreland, according to the operator. Expansions are already underway at the facility, which operates out of a former department store space at Westmoreland Mall.
A new 1,500-square-foot poker room is scheduled to open on December 20, while 20 new electronic gaming tables are to be operational by December 23. Other new and expanded amenities include a 7,000-square-foot event center, a FanDuel FanCave, and 18 new slot machines in the casino’s high-limit room, reports Pittsburgh Business Times.
Moreover, new menu items will be available at the casino’s two on-site restaurants, Sports and Social Steel City and Guy Fieri’s American Kitchen and Bar. The new poker room and the additional electronic gaming tables were subject to a vote by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, which approved the additions on Wednesday.
“These exciting new additions to Live! Casino highlight just how much we are growing and thriving in Westmoreland County,” said Sean Sullivan, general manager of Live! Casino Pittsburgh, according to the cited news source. “We continue to listen to the needs of our guests while building on our reputation as a world-class gaming and entertainment destination.”
The new FanDuel FanCave is located on the second floor of the venue, adjacent to Sports & Social. The transformed 826-square-foot space offers betting terminals while serving as a luxurious sports watching lounge. It is both to walk-in guests as well as available to be reserved for fantasy drafts, watch parties, meetings or special events.
Meanwhile, the Poker Room – Live! Casino will transform the original banquet room on the second floor into a designated poker facility, with seven new table games. In terms of the 20 new EGTs coming to the venue, they will feature both Roulette and Blackjack with a live dealer. Fourteen will be located outside the main casino bar, and six inside it.
Wyomissing-based Gaming and Leisure Properties Inc. is set to purchase for $1.81 billion the real estate assets associated with Live! Casino Pittsburgh from The Cordish Companies, as well as Live! Maryland and Live! Philadelphia, in a sale-and-lease-back transaction, including applicable long-term leases.
GLPI, a corporate spin-off from Penn National Gaming, expects to close on its new Pennsylvania casino buys early in the new year. All three acquisitions require appropriate regulatory approval to move forward.
The gaming and entertainment destination opened on November 24 last year, on a $150 million budget. It opened originally featuring 750 slots and about 30 live-action table games, plus FanDuel Sportsbook.
