It was only late January when Michigan online gambling officially launched, but it did not take long for the state to generate some serious return on investment.
Internet sports betting in the state generated over $115 million in betting action. And when you factor in online casinos and poker, the state was able to pocket nearly $43 million in January. It’s difficult, however, to put Michigan’s launch into proper perspective after just 10 days of data.
Ten sports betting operators and eight online casinos launched on January 22nd, but the market grew to include Fox Bet, Stars Casino, and PokerStars by the 29th. The three days of online poker are not separated in the numbers report from internet gaming.
FanDuel was the big winner, taking in more than $32 million in sports bets and leading the market with 28.3% of the handle. FanDuel and the other top three operators (DraftKings, Barstool and BetMGM) far outpaced the rest of the field.
