The Gaming Commission keeps mask mandate at casinos after Gov. lifted it

T

he Mississippi Gaming Commission issued updates to its COVID-19 guidelines for casinos.

Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves lifted the state’s mask mandate effective Wednesday, but the rules for casinos are different. The Gaming Commission left the mask mandate in place but modified other rules, effective Thursday.

The casino occupancy rate has been raised to 75 percent from 50 percent, and masks are required inside. They can be temporarily removed to eat or drink. Casinos will continue to encourage social distancing and will clean and disinfect frequently touched areas every two hours.

Staff members will be regularly deployed to guest and staff member touch-points for cleaning and disinfecting. High frequency touch-points will be sanitized at least once every two hours. Staff members will be trained on proper cleaning and disinfecting protocol. Also, hand sanitizer will be available to guests throughout the gaming floor, and signage will be posted asking guests to sanitize prior to playing at slot machines or gaming tables.
