At the halfway point of the season, the New York Jets and the New York Giants are playing terrible football and look like the worst teams in the league.
Their poor play has prompted NFL betting sites to release prop bets on how each team will finish the 2020 regular season. Let’s huddle up to examine these prop bets and make some winning predictions.
Will the New York Jets Go Winless in 2020?
- Yes (+290)
- No (-410)
This prop bet is courtesy of FanDuel with odds prior to the Jets embarrassing loss to the Chiefs in Week 8 of the season. I would imagine that these odds shift slightly after the loss to Kansas City.
However, I don’t believe it will be by much since FanDuel already took into consideration that the Jets were playing KC in Week 8. If I had to guess, the line will drop to +230 to +250 for the “yes” option and -350 to -375 for the “no” option.
The Jets Are a Hot Mess
From the front office down to the offensive line, this New York Jets football team is a hot mess. We’ll start with the GM Joe Douglas who constructed a horrible roster after letting WR Robbie Anderson walk and trading Safety Jamal Adams to Seattle among other questionable moves.

They bungled the entire Le’Veon Bell situation as well, no matter how much they try and spin the narrative. The Jets have an inferior roster to the rest of the league and should be sellers at the trade deadline. Even if they don’t make a move, this team is playing for the #1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The only suspense for the Jets each week is whether or not it will be head coach Adam Gase’s last game. Every week online betting sites and Jets fans are calling for Gase to be fired. Yet, he has survived half of the season so far.
Yes, Gase has made some bad coaching decisions this year. But, he didn’t construct this team. General Manager Joe Douglas needs to go first. I see the ownership cleaning house at the end of the season. Once again, the Jets will be looking for a new coach, new GM, new QB, and a new direction.
The Worst Offense in the NFL
The Jets have the worst offense in the NFL. New York ranks as follows:
- 32nd in total yards at 259 ypg
- 32nd in passing yards at 155.9 ypg
- 23rd in rushing yards at 103. 1 ypg
- 32nd in scoring at 11.8ppg
Other than their rushing attack, the Jets are dead last in all major offensive categories. They’re 11.8ppg is nearly a touchdown less than the 31st ranked offense which is the New York Giants.
The Jets have no real receiving threats other than Jamison Crowder who can’t stay healthy. The franchise has ruined QB Sam Darnold who is probably hoping to be traded.
Furthermore, they have an inconsistent offensive line that can’t pass protect and a running game that’s an injury away from being the worst in the league.
Looking Ahead at the Jets Remaining Games
The Jets final eight games come against the Patriots twice, Chargers, Dolphins, Raiders, Seahawks, Rams and Browns. New England and the Chargers are the only teams with losing records on the Jets schedule. Yet, both of them are significantly better.
The Patriots will sweep the Jets this year, starting with their Week 9 matchup. The Jets will lose at the Chargers as QB Justin Herbert will carve up this New York defense. Miami already beat the Jets 24-0 this season and should win by double digits again.
The Raiders are contending for a Wild Card spot and have an offense that will outscore the Jets on the road. Seattle will probably win by 20 points.
The Rams, even the team that just got embarrassed by Miami in Week 8, has way too much talent to lose to the Jets in Week 15. That defense will crush New York’s offensive line and cause at least two turnovers.
The Browns will run all over the Jets and the Patriots will win in Week 17 as they refuse to allow their divisional rival to win one game.
Even the Jets will lose their Bye Week on November 15th.
Will the Jets Go Winless?
After reading the previous sections above, I can’t see how anyone would think that the Jets win a game this season. Jump all over the “yes’ option while it’s still paying out at two-to-one or more.
This Jets team is horrible and they will become the third franchise to go 0-16 joining the 2017 Browns and the 2008 Lions.
Will the Jets Go Winless? –Yes (+290)
Will the New York Giants Win Another Game in 2020?
Bovada asks the question: how many games will the Giants win in 2020?
- One win (+1000)
- Two wins (+425)
- Three wins (+290)
- Four wins (+250)
- Five wins (+375)
- Six wins (+550)
- Seven wins (+1200)
- Eight wins (+3500)
- Nine wins (+10000)
- Ten wins (+20000)
This article is prior to the Buccaneers vs Giants MNF game on November 2nd. With that said, the Giants are 13 point underdogs at home against the Bucs. So, they will most likely lose this game and fall to 1-7 on the season, which means the 10 wins option will no longer be available.
From Hope to Disaster
Heading into the 2020 season there was excitement and hope surrounding this Giants team. Many critics believed that QB Daniel Jones would improve in his second year and that this offense would take a big step forward with all of the talent that they have in addition to hiring Jason Garrett as OC.
Furthermore, the Giants overhauled the defense and thought that they would be better than last year’s terrible unit.
Unfortunately, the Giants lost players to opting out, arrests and injuries. Most notably, the Giants loss their best player in Saquon Barkley after the stud running back tore his ACL in Week 2. Since then, the Giants have only averaged 98.1 rushing ypg.
Even worse, the Giants have the second lowest scoring offense at 17.4ppg. With a game against the tough Bucs defense up next, I don’t see the Giants even reaching that mark.
No Passing Game
The Giants have absolutely no passing game as they rank 30th in the league at 184.3 ypg. I expect that mark to go down after they lose to the Bucs.
New York has seen many of its top receivers miss games due to injury. Although they have receiving talent like Slayton, Tate, Sheppard, and Engram, this offensive line is horrible at pass blocking. It will be a small miracle if Jones can make it through the season.
The Giants have given up 18 sacks in seven games. I expect the Bucks to easily push this over the 20 mark. Tampa has 25 sacks in seven games, which is an average of 3.6 sacks per game. I put the Over/Under at 4 sacks against the Giants on MNF.
Remaining Giants Schedule
Following their game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Giants play Washington, Philly, Cincy, Seattle, Arizona, Cleveland, Baltimore and Dallas.
New York’s lone win on the season came against Washington. However, The Football Team will be coming off a Bye Week and motivated to beat the Giants. Despite each team’s losing record, they’re both still alive in the NFC East as Philly leads the division with a 3-4-1 record.
Speaking of Philly, the Giants play them in two weeks. The Eagles won their first matchup 22-21 and will get Miles Sanders back. They will also get healthier along the offensive line and in the secondary which is bad news for New York.
The giants will lose at Cincy, at Seattle, vs the Cardinals, vs the Browns, and at Baltimore. Their final game of the season is at home against the Cowboys.
How Many Games Will the Giants Win in 2020?
I see the Giants being able to win at least one more game especially from the following matchups: Washington, Philadelphia and Dallas. Although the Bengals have a losing record as well, they’re starting to play much better which is evident by their Week 8 win over the Titans.
The options to look at for this Giants prop bet are:
- Two wins (+425)
- Three wins (+290)
I believe the Giants will get at least one more win this season especially since they play Dallas again. The Cowboys are terrible without Dak Prescott. Furthermore, Washington isn’t that good either and the Giants can beat them if they play up to their full potential.
There’s a slight chance that New York can get to 3 wins on the season, but the safe bet for this wager is two wins at +425 odds.
Report: New York Giants could replace GM Dave Gettleman with Patriots’ Nick Caserio #NYG

Like their roommate the Jets, the Giants will clean out the front office and most likely get rid of GM Dave Gettleman at the end of the season. I wouldn’t be surprised if offensive coordinator Jason Garrett ends up as the Giants head coach next year as well.
This team needs more talent and a better direction with the franchise. They will be lucky to go 3-13. More than likely, the Giants end up 2-14 on the year and get a Top 3 draft pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
