Just this week, the 49ers announced that they were placing RB Jeff Wilson Jr. and WR Deebo Samuel on injured reserve. Both players are expected to miss the next three to four weeks.
With injuries to most of the backfield, the loss of Wilson will hurt. But, it’s the loss of Samuel that will definitely hinder the success on the offensive side of the ball for the 49ers. Samuel has become the team’s top wide receiver and is a threat to run the ball as well.
The 49ers will rely heavily on TE Greg Kittle and rookie WR Brandon Aiyuk to lead the passing game while they roll out all healthy running backs still left on the active roster. There’s an outside shot that Tevin Coleman can return this week and tote the rock a few times.
Defensively, the 49ers have showed depth, but they also lost another defender for a few weeks, which will hurt them when trying to slow down this Seattle passing attack that’s averaging 315 passing ypg.
Russell Wilson is cooking and on a pace to break season records. The Seahawks have two dangerous receivers in DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett that will test the 49ers banged up secondary all game long.

Like San Francisco, the Seahawks have injuries in the backfield as Chris Carson is dealing with a sprained foot and Carlos Hyde is dealing with a sore hamstring. Their status for this week has yet to be determined.
Seattle has the worst pass defense in the league as they give up 373.8 ypg, so I expect the 49ers to find most of their offensive success through the air despite not having Samuel.
Seattle has dominated this head to head rivalry over the last several years as they’re 8-1 SU in their last nine home games against the 49ers. That one loss came last year when the refs said that the Seahawks didn’t score a TD with just a few seconds left in the game.
On Sunday, I don’t see this game coming down to inches or a last minute score. I see the Seahawks bouncing back from their Week 7 loss to the Cardinals by getting out to a fast lead. The 49ers will chip away to make it look close on the scoreboard, but I don’t see Seattle ever being in trouble of losing.
Last year, Seattle should’ve swept the 49ers. This year, they’re a better team and I see the Seahawks taking both games against San Francisco this season starting with a strong performance on Sunday.
The 49ers are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 divisional games and 8-11 SU as an Underdog. Russell Wilson will outplay Jimmy Garoppolo and the Seahawks offense will be too much for a banged up 49ers team.
