The NBA’s preseason schedule finally tips off tonight with five games scattered around the league. Betting on preseason can be quite the volatile endeavor, though, so BetOnline has declined to include any of tonight’s NBA games on their list of odds booster options on this Friday.

Fortunately, we have enough else going on to keep us busy. There’s more college hoops and college football action on tap for tonight, while Leeds United will play host to West Ham in some afternoon Premier League action across the pond.

How should you approach Friday’s BetOnline odds boosters?

Premier League: Leeds to Win AND Over 3.5 Goals (+400)

Leeds United got off to a hot start in their return to the Premier League, but they have fallen on harder times of late. Leeds were beaten 3-1 by Chelsea over the weekend, which means they have won just once in the league in their last five tries.

West Ham have quietly been one of the more impressive mid-tier sides early in the campaign. The Hammers were beaten 3-1 by Manchester United in their last outing, which snapped a three-game winning streak for David Moyes’ side. West Ham quietly sit eighth in the table and very much in the running for one of the European spots for next term.

Leeds are slight favorites at Elland Road here at +125 to win the game on the moneyline. The Hammers are listed at +193, with the draw at +275. Leeds have been a bit leaky defensively, with 20 goals allowed through their first 11 Premier League matches of the year. Only West Brom and Fulham have let more balls into the back of the net in the English top flight. Fulham have a plus-four goal differential with 14 goals allowed thus far.

West Ham may control the majority of possession here, and Leeds’ wobbly defense will be put to the test. Whether Moyes’ side can take advantage of the opportunities they will generate obviously remains to be seen, but it won’t help that Michail Antonio will likely miss out with a hamstring injury. Sebastian Haller will likely remain in the starting XI.

Frankly, West Ham look like a pretty good moneyline value as road underdogs here.

NCAAB: West Virginia (-14.5) and Villanova (-11.5) BOTH to Cover (+315)

Bob Huggins’ West Virginia Mountaineers are off to a solid 4-1 start this season. WVU’s lone loss of the year was a five-point setback against Gonzaga, which was a pretty impressive result considering the Zags are the best team in the nation and odds-on favorites to win it all this year.

West Virginia bounced back from that defeat by beating Georgetown 80-71 last time out. The Mountaineers haven’t been seriously tested beyond the Gonzaga game, but this team still has big expectations. WVU is ranked No. 11 in the country, and they’re among the favorites to win the Big 12 this season.

The Mountaineers are back in action tonight at home against North Texas. The Mean Green are 1-2 to begin the season with losses to Arkansas and Mississippi State. UNT has had a fairly difficult schedule to this point, and it won’t get any easier as 14.5-point underdogs tonight at WVU Coliseum.

Villanova will look to improve on their 4-1 start. The Wildcats have a surprising loss to Virginia Tech on their resume already this season, but they are fresh off of a solid four-point road win over No. 17 Texas. Nova is still ranked ninth overall, and they’ll take on a 2-2 Georgetown side tonight on the road.

The Hoyas throttled Coppin State by 32 points in their last game as they were able to take out their frustration following back-to-back losses to Navy and West Virginia. Georgetown certainly isn’t the program it used to be, which is why Nova comes in as double-digit favorites on the road.

NCAAF: Arizona State (-11.5) and North Texas (-10) BOTH to Cover (+325)

The North Texas basketball squad is in for a tough fight tonight against West Virginia, and the football team will be taking the field at home against UTEP. The Mean Green are favored by 10 here against a UTEP side coming off a 52-21 loss to UT-San Antonio.

The Miners are just 3-4 on the season and they come into this game as losers of three straight. North Texas is only 3-5 after two straight losses to UT-San Antonio and Louisiana Tech. It’s a little surprising to see the Mean Green so heavily favored in a game featuring a pair of Conference USA bottomfeeders, but UTEP has won just once on the road all year.

Arizona State will be playing for just the third time this season following a few cancellations. The Sun Devils have lost each of their first two games to USC and UCLA. Their seven-point loss at home to the Bruins last week was their first game in about a month, so there was likely a pretty serious rust factor in that one.

Tonight, Arizona State will head to Tucson to face Arizona. One of these teams will win for the first time this season. The Wildcats fell to 0-4 with an 11-point loss to Colorado last week. Arizona’s last three losses have all come by double digits, as well.

What’s The Best Bet?

Arizona State has gotten the better of their in-state rivals over the years, but tonight’s game likely won’t be the greatest display of football competence we’ve ever seen. These teams are a combined 0-6 on the year. While the Sun Devils have been a bit more competitive than the Wildcats on the year, it’s still tough to back State as such a heavy favorite on the road tonight.

North Texas should be able to handle UTEP at home, but the Arizona-Arizona State game is dicey. As a result, I’d pass on this one at +325.

I like West Ham to get a result on the road today at Leeds, which makes the Premier League booster a tough one to trust, too. I’m also skeptical that the game will go over 3.5 goals despite Leeds’ lackluster defending so far this season. Leeds to win plus the over at +400 looks like a fade.

So, we’re left with college basketball. Villanova is the far better team on paper than Georgetown at this point, and I’m not putting too much stock in the Wildcats’ surprising early-season loss to Virginia Tech. Nova will get the job done on the road. West Virginia is also looking like one of the best teams in the nation early this season, so I’m perfectly fine with taking the Mountaineers to cover the sizable spread on their home court against a struggling North Texas team.

College basketball is where it’s at tonight.
