Povetkin vs Whyte 2 is almost here!

It’s the boxing bout that has, at times, seemed destined never to happen, but the two fighters will finally face off on 27th March in Gibraltar, with the fight already billed as the ‘Rumble on the Rock’.

Here’s all you need to know about one of the biggest boxing matches of the year…

Povetkin vs Whyte 2 | Betting Preview & FAQ

After countless delays and venue shifts, boxing fans can finally settle down to some serious action on Saturday 27th as Alexander Povetkin and Dillian Whyte meet for their long-awaited rematch.

British fans were left stunned last August as Povetkin floored his rival by technical knockout in the fifth round to snatch his WBC titles, in a real turnout for the books at the Matchroom Boxing HQ in Brentwood.

Whyte – the heavy 27/100 favourite in that contest – had controlled the opening four rounds in their first meeting but was caught unawares by a decisive left-hand uppercut from Povetkin that brought the contest to an abrupt halt.

The pair were all signed up for a rapid rematch last autumn before Covid-related delays intervened several times, forcing the fight to be pushed back to the spring of 2021.

Despite Povetkin upsetting the odds last time out, Brixton-raised Whyte still starts out as hot favourite to make amends on the rock.

He’s currently 2/7 with Marathonbet to redress the balance, while his Russian opponent is 68/25 to prove that win was no fluke.

Last summer’s fight was only a second career defeat for Whyte, with his other loss coming against Anthony Joshua in 2015.

The value could be on this one going the distance, with four of Povetkin’s last seven fights going all the way, and Whyte going at least 10 rounds in seven of his last 10 matchups.

The main event looks set to get underway shortly after 10pm on the 27th, but it’s preceded by a lively undercard, including the battle for the British Super Welterweight title between Ted Cheeseman and JJ Metcalf.

Live coverage will be provided by Sky Sports Box Office in the UK.
