Royal Ascot Racing Tips – Day 1
14:30 (Queen Anne Stakes) – Palace Pier 🏇
Show-stopping performer is expected to resume winning partnership with Frankie Dettori in the Group 1 opener; timed his run to perfection to take the Lockinge at Newbury in May.
15:05 (Coventry Stakes) – Ebro River 🏇
Emerging talent looks intriguing for Hugo Palmer in the Coventry after breakthrough wins at Doncaster and Sandown last month. Could have more to offer on step up to 6f.
15:40 (King’s Stand Stakes) – Battaash 🏇
The ultimate bruiser over 5f having won five of his last six over this distance; wasn’t unduly bothered by a lengthy break when winning this race in fine style last year.
16:20 (St James’s Palace Stakes) – Mostahdaf 🏇
Made no errors so far under steady guidance of the Gosdens, winning all three outings since debut. Success in Listed race at Sandown last month adds to appeal as he takes on toughest test to date.
17:00 (Ascot Stakes) – Saldier 🏇
Likely to be up for the battle on evidence of winning running at Listowel last time out; yet to entirely convince in truly A-grade company but could flourish if handling this trip next Tuesday. The Copper Horse Stakes could be his alternate option on Day 1.
17:35 (Wolferton Stakes) – Sangarius 🏇
Has previous at this festival as the Hampton Court Stakes winner back in 2019 and has looked to be edging back towards top form with second-place finishes at Chester and Sandown last month.
18:10 (Copper Horse Stakes Handicap) – On To Victory 🏇
Steady seven-year-old has finished no lower than third in all bar one outing this year on the flat and over hurdles; booking of Tom Marquand suggests he could be the one to watch in a wide-open contest.
