As most have already heard, Jake and his brother Logan Paul have quickly begun making their way into the boxing game. It started in 2018 when they competed in an amateur boxing event featuring an all-YouTube card. The brothers decided to enter the professional game shortly after.

This past November, Jake Paul competed in his second professional bout against former NBA player Nate Robinson. There was some serious hype leading into this bout. Jake has a huge number of followers, many of whom hoped to see him lose.

Many began flocking to different US online sportsbooks to place their wagers on this fight. Jake entered as the considerable favorite by just about every single betting site. Some, however, felt that Robinson’s athleticism would help him get the win.

That includes Conor McGregor. Jake Paul took to Instagram, allegedly offering Conor $50 million for a fight in the boxing ring. “Notorious” has yet to respond to this callout and Jake Paul is still looking for his next opponent.

Many are taking issue with the Paul brothers entering into the boxing ring. That includes one of the best fighters in the sport, Canelo Alvarez.

Just about everyone who follows boxing knows Canelo Alvarez. He’s been a massive star in the sport for years, famously receiving a shot against Floyd Mayweather when he was just 21 years old. He’s now 54-1-2 in the ring with wins over some of the best fighters to ever compete.

This past weekend, Canelo took on Callum Smith with several world championships on the line. Smith was seen as one of the toughest challenges to Canelo in years. Once again, however, the Mexican champion proved that he’s simply on another level and beat Smith via a clear unanimous decision.

Canelo was recently asked what he felt about the Paul brothers boxing. As a true veteran of the fight game, he doesn’t seem to be a fan of this move. He also warned that entering the boxing game can have serious consequences.

“I truly believe that it’s a lack of respect. It’s all based on money,” Canelo said. “It’s all about money. I’m focused right now on other projects, I have other stuff going on. I would invite them over for a sparring session so they truly know what it’s all about. It’s all about money and I don’t agree with it. I don’t agree that people who are basketball players or who are YouTubers get licenses. This is a very risky sport, so if they’re going out there, it’s risky.”

Canelo is far from being the only person with this opinion. In fact, many fighters have been complaining about Jake and Logan making moves into the fight game. Like it or not, these two YouTubers are bringing more viewers to the sport.

As we mentioned earlier, Jake is still looking for his next opponent. Logan, however, is set to take on one of boxing’s all-time greats in February of next year.
