Pennzoil 400 Driver Matchups
In order to win these prop bets, you must pick which driver that you think will finish higher by time the checkered flag is waived at Las Vegas this Sunday. The following prop bets are courtesy of Bovada and DraftKings:
Matt DiBenedetto vs Cole Custer
Custer has fared better than DiBenedetto this season as Cole is 14th in the standings while Matt is 34th overall. Yet, at Las Vegas, Matt D. has been the better driver over the last few races.
Custer has three starts at this track with a 20.0 average finish while DiBenedetto has eight starts and an 18.6 average finish.
Cole’s best result was 16th last fall. Matt was runner up in the last two Las Vegas races. Even if you use his last three races to compare to Custer’s three starts, DiBenedetto has an 8.3 average finish compared to Custer’s 20.0.
Take DiBenedetto to beat Custer this Sunday.
Matt DiBenedetto vs Cole Custer –DiBenedetto (-115)
Best Finish in the Group
- Joey Logano (+220)
- Kyle Larson (+250)
- Ryan Blaney (+275)
- Kyle Busch (+275)
Busch has had a poor season so far and hasn’t won at Vegas since 2009. He does have four Top 10s in the last six races. Speaking of Top 10s, Larson has six in his nine starts and looks to pick up where he left off when he finished 9th in this race last year.
Blaney has the 2nd best average finish at 9.7 and also has six Top 10s in nine career starts. He was 11th in this race last year.
We’re speeding into race weekend! Tune in this Sunday at 3:30PM EST on FOX to see if @joeylogano can three-peat at the #Pennzoil400 🏁 🏁 🏁 #TheProofIsInThePennzoil pic.twitter.com/lJe1WV5jc5

The driver that won last year’s Pennzoil 400 was Joey Logano. In fact, he has won two in a row and also has the best average finish among active drivers (8.4).
Logano is a legitimate threat to win this weekend and will finish with the highest result among this group of drivers.
Best Finish in the Group –Logano (+220)
Pennzoil 400 Car Prop Bets
Car Number of Race Winner
- Even (-135)
- Odd (+105)
Although I picked Truex to win this race, I believe that the Even option is the best routed to take. It includes Keselowski (2), Harvick (4), Blaney (12), Busch (18) and Logano (22). I see Logano and Keselowski contending for the checkered flag along with Truex.
This is a smart way to hedge our bets.
Car Number of Race Winner
- Over 11.5 (-110)
- Under 11.5 (-120)
Kyle Busch (18), Martin Truex Jr. (19), and Joey Logano (22) are three of my Top 7 drivers this weekend. Furthermore, Logano and Truex are two of my three favorites along with Keselowski. Since I picked Truex to win, go with the Over 11.5 option.
Car Number of Race Winner –Over 11.5 (-110)
Manufacturer of Race Winner
- Ford (+135)
- Chevrolet (+170)
- Toyota (+230)
Although I took Truex and his Toyota to win on Sunday, you have to go with Ford to win this race. Ford has won this race 12 times, which is five more than Chevy who is in second place.
Final Results from @HomesteadMiami. 🏁
16th – Brad @keselowski / @DentWizardIntl
25th – @joeylogano / @shellracingus
29th – Ryan @Blaney / @deximaging #NASCAR pic.twitter.com/eINZqx6TTg— Team Penske (@Team_Penske) March 1, 2021
Ford has won three straight Pennzoil 400 races and four of the last five. Ford drivers this weekend consist of all of the Team Penske drivers and Kevin Harvick. That’s three of the Top 6 betting favorites for this weekend’s race.
Manufacturer of Race Winner –Ford (+135)
Team of Race Winner
- Joe Gibbs Racing (+240)
- Hendrick Motor Sports (+275)
- Team Penske (+290)
- Stewart-Haas Racing (+450)
- Chip Ganassi Racing (+1600)
- Any Other Team (+1800)
- Richard Childress racing (+1800)
- JTG Daughtery Racing (+4000)
- Roush Fenway Racing (+5000)
As mentioned, Team Penske is the team to beat this weekend with Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski and Ryan Blaney. Logano and Keselowski have combined to win three of the last five Pennzoil 400 races and two in a row.
Logano and Blaney have the Top 2 best average finishes among active drivers and have raced well at this track over the last few years.
Joe Gibbs Racing has my predicted winner of Martin Truex Jr. along with Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin, but I would prefer to hedge my bets and take Team Penske to win on Sunday.
Team of Race Winner –Team Penske (+290)
Other Pennzoil 400 Prop Bets
Grid Position of Race Winner
- Over 8.5 (-105)
- Under 8.5 (-125)
This is a tough call as there are some very talented drivers starting in the Top 8: Harvick (pole), Larson, Truex Jr., Hamlin, Kurt Busch and Elliott.
And, even though I took Truex to win the race, there are nearly 30 drivers who count for the Over 8.5 option, which also provides better value.
Some of those drivers that are starting 9th and higher are: Keselowski, Dillon, Kyle Busch, Logano, Dillon and Blaney.
In 15 of the 26 Las Vegas races, the winner started Over 8.5. In four of the last five Vegas races, the winner was Over 8.5.
I’m taking the Over 8.5 (-105) option for this prop bet to go along with the trends and to hedge my bet with Truex winning the race.
Grid Position of Race Winner –Over 8.5 (-105)
