The upcoming Summer Olympic Games have been extremely difficult to put together. For months, analysts have been questioning whether or not international spectators would be allowed to attend the event. A new Tokyo Olympics update casts doubt on that idea.
It seems extremely likely that only domestic fans will be given permission to attend the Games. It’s difficult news for many people around the world hoping to watch the spectacle in person. Today, we’ll talk about some of the measures being discussed for this event.
Let’s get into it!
More of Japan’s Population Pushes Against Holding 2021 Olympics
There has been a huge amount of controversy surrounding the 2021 Olympic Games. Back in March of 2020, news broke that this event was being postponed by a year. This was the first time an Olympic postponement had been ordered for any reason other than a major war.
The IOC had no other option. The world began to realize how serious the global health crisis was in March and many countries began closing their borders. It was clear that a massive international sporting competition would be impossible to hold in the summer of 2020.
Simply postponing this event didn’t solve everything. Event organizers had to immediately come up with plans to safely hold the Olympics in 2021. That has proven to be extremely difficult due to the constantly-changing health situation around the world.
Many people in Japan seem fed up. A poll came out recently showing the majority of Japanese residents feel the 2021 Olympic Games should be canceled entirely. Most believe it is not worth the cost or potential safety issues.
This led some to speculate where else the Olympics could be held. Florida offered to host the Games if Japan decided on a cancelation. As of now, however, Japan’s government and members of the IOC are still planning to host the Games as planned.
Many questions still surround the Japan Summer Olympics. We’re beginning to hear more about who will be allowed to watch the competitions in person.
Sources Offer Another Interesting Tokyo Olympics Update
As the 2021 Olympic Games draw closer, more media attention is placed on the event. No one really knows what to expect. For months, analysts have been publicly questioning whether or not international fans would be allowed to attend.
The IOC has been torn on this subject. Thomas Bach claimed he would do his best to allow spectators from other countries to attend. Some of Japan’s government leaders pushed against this idea due to the health risk it posed.
This week, unnamed sources offered another Tokyo Olympic update. These sources are said to be involved with the planning of the Games. They claim that the organizing committee will soon announce a ban on any foreign visitors attending the event.
This aligns with what Seiko Hashimoto, president of the Japanese committee, said to the media last week.
“We would really like people from around the world to come to a full stadium, but unless we are prepared to accept them and the medical situation in Japan is perfect, it will cause a great deal of trouble also to visitors from overseas,” Hashimoto said.
No one should be completely surprised at this news. Travel is still heavily restricted around the world. It’s completely unclear how many of these restrictions will remain in place by the time July rolls around.
This probably isn’t the Tokyo Olympics update that everyone wants to hear. Many people around the world were still hoping for the chance to see this global sporting event in person. Now, many will simply be hoping it takes place at all. Stay tuned for more updates heading into July!
Here’s How to Bet on the 2021 Olympic Games Online
More news on the upcoming Olympic Games is coming out every single week. Incredibly, there is still a lot that we don’t know about this event. Travel restrictions are changing on a constant basis, making this an extremely difficult Games to prepare for.
The current plan is still for the event to take place. It is currently scheduled to begin on July 23 and will conclude on August 8. The most recent Tokyo Olympics update seems to indicate that fans will not be allowed to attend.
That doesn’t mean that fans around the world still can’t get involved in all the sporting action. Many are now heading over to Bovada to make their wagers on how things play out in Tokyo. There are some great odds available leading into the event.
Many are choosing to bet on which country secures the most medals. The USA is listed as the favorite with odds of -800. China comes in second in the odds at +550. Great Britain is third with current odds of +1600 to win the most medals.
This is just one of the Olympic betting options available right now. More will likely become available as the Games draw closer.
