UNLV adds two online seminars in August focused on iGaming regulations, operations, marketplace and internal controls

The International Center for Gaming Regulation (ICGR) at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) has added two more online seminars for next month.

The first one of them is called “Understanding iGaming: Regulations, Operations & Marketplace,” to be held on August 9 and 10. This two-day seminar program seeks to position operators and regulators to better understand iGaming operations, regulatory guidelines, and the marketplace in which iGaming exists.

Seminar topics include the legal framework that has given rise to iGaming, understanding the players in the marketplace, social-ethical concerns, current and future market sizing of the U.S. iGaming opportunity, among others. The activity will also feature a review of a sample of iGaming products, and it will allow participants to hear from a jurisdiction that implemented iGaming, and discuss iGaming with a regulator.

  • Rebecca Giden– Director of Policy, Eilers and Krejcik Gaming
  • Bruce Dall – President, MotorCity Hotel & Casino
  • Melanie Gross – Senior iGaming Executive
  • Jason Lim – General Manager Online, Ainsworth Interactive
  • Alan Feldman – Distinguished Fellow in Responsible Gaming, International Gaming Institute
  • Rick Kalm – Former Executive Director, Michigan Gaming Control Board

The International Center for Gaming Regulation is also hosting a virtual seminar to explore the mechanics and process of audits and accounting in the international gaming industry. Casino & Gaming Internal Controls” will be held on August 17, mainly aimed at regulators, but it will also support the education and knowledge base of professionals seeking facts and information about control systems within any highly regulated industry.

Seminar topics cover the purpose and function of internal controls, the preparation and planning for a regulatory audit, internal controls case studies, credit and collections, among others.

The educational partner in charge of the seminar will be Kim McCabe-Ward, Senior Vice President of Compliance at Maverick Gaming & founder of KMC, LLC. With over 24 years in the gaming and hospitality industry, she is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS). Her experience includes VP of Internal Audit for Caesars, over 13 years with Las Vegas Sands Corp. in various executive positions, and six years with Nevada Gaming Control Board. She has been a presenter at AML Conferences in the U.S. and Beijing, NV Society of CPAs, National Indian Gaming Assoc., American Bar Association and many webinars.
