The UFC is set to return this Saturday with an exciting fight card headlined by Michelle Waterson and Angela Hill. Unfortunately, Frank Camacho has been forced off the card due to illness. Officials within the UFC acted fast and fans will now be treated to Weaver vs. Turner instead.
Jalin Turner was scheduled to compete last weekend before his opponent dropped out. He’ll now get an opportunity to compete against fellow Dana White’s Contender Series veteran, Brok Weaver. Today, we’re going to break down the odds for this exciting matchup.
Let’s get into it!
Dana White Comments on Fighters Being Forced of Cards
Since returning from the sports shutdown back in March, the UFC has seen its popularity explode. Viewership is up and more people are heading to US sports betting sites to place their bets on the fights than ever before. One of the main issues the promotion now faces is fighters being forced off of cards.
It’s not entirely surprising. With the state of the world, many fighters are finding themselves getting ill leading into fight night. The UFC has a rigorous testing protocol set in place and any sick fighters are immediately quarantined and forced off of events.
This has almost become a normal occurrence now. It seems like at least one fighter is now forced off of every single event that comes around. It’s a serious challenge for officials within the UFC, including President Dana White. After the Contender Series show this past Tuesday, White spoke to the media about how difficult this process has really been.
“Look at the history here,” White said. “Look at what we’ve done and how it’s all worked out. One of the things that we’re not doing that other sports are doing is there’s people that keep testing positive but they have no symptoms and they’re not contagious… We just had a situation last week where they tested negative, negative, then tested positive. This thing is f*ckin wacky and you do the best you can.”
The UFC and all other sports leagues currently operating are facing similar difficulties. Athletes are getting sick and are capable of getting others sick, as well. Once again, that became a reality for the card this weekend.
Weaver vs. Turner is Now Official for Saturday’s Event
Frank Camacho and Brok Weaver are two fighters in serious need of a win in the UFC’s lightweight division. In some ways, their matchup on Saturday felt like a “loser leaves town” deal. Many fans expected both men to come out firing with their careers potentially on the line.
Unfortunately, the fight was not meant to be. Frank Camacho has been forced off the card and UFC officials quickly started looking at potential replacement fighters. News has now broken that Jalin Turner will step in, taking the fight on short-notice.
Weaver vs. Turner certainly makes sense. Jalin made the lightweight limit last Friday. It appears he’s ready to do the same this Saturday. He’s also at a similar rank to Brok Weaver and should put up a good fight.
BetOnline.ag, one of the best online sportsbooks in the US, is now offering odds on this new matchup. At the moment, Turner enters the contest as the -325 favorite. Despite being the only man originally scheduled to compete on Saturday, Weaver enters this contest as the +250 underdog.
It’s disappointing to see that Frank Camacho was forced off this event. He’ll get another opportunity down the line, though. Weaver vs. Turner is an exciting replacement and should be a good test for both men. Make sure to check out our betting preview for this entire event to see who else is competing!

Upcoming UFC Events This September
Frank Camacho isn’t the only man to be forced off of Saturday’s event. Originally, the card was going to be headlined by Glover Teixeira and Thiago Santos. Glover was forced off the card and the fight with Thiago has now been pushed back to a later date.
It’s obvious that this card has taken some serious hits. Fortunately, September is stacked with other events that can help to make up for the disappointment. One that many are focused on is the welterweight clash between Colby Covington and Tyron Woodley.
These two men have been verbally sparring on social media for years. There’s some legitimate bad blood heading into their clash on September 19th. For now, Covington enters as the -320 underdog and Woodley comes in as the +270 underdog.
There’s no doubt that UFC 253 on September 27th is the biggest event of the month, though. Israel Adesanya will look to defend his middleweight title against Paulo Costa. Israel is listed as the -153 favorite. Costa will enter the cafe as the bigger man, yet he’s the +133 underdog in this contest.
Saturday’s event should be an exciting one. Many fans will now have a particular interest in Weaver vs. Turner. Stay tuned for more MMA news over the next few weeks!
