2021 WWE Fastlane Betting Preview, Odds and Predictions

2021-wwe-fastlane-betting-preview,-odds-and-predictions

On Sunday, March 21st, the WWE will be live from the ThunderDome at the Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. This will be the 6th event under the Fastlane banner, but the first since 2019. It’s also the last PPV before WrestleMania 37.

Currently, there have been six matches scheduled for the Fastlane PPV, which will begin at 7PM ET on the WWE Network and Peacock.

WWE betting sites have released odds for some of the announced Fastlane matches. This article is being published prior to the March 19th episode of SmackDown, which could impact the Fastlane card and betting odds.

Without any further delay, let’s walk that aisle, step through those ring ropes, and strut around the ring like a poor man’s Ric Flair as we make some winning Fastlane predictions.

RAW Singles Match

  • Braun Strowman (NA)
  • Shane McMahon (NA)

After being left out of the RAW Elimination Chamber match, Braun Strowman became angered with WWE officials including Adam Pearce and Shane McMahon. It was at this moment that the “Shane O’Mac” shenanigans would begin.

At first, McMahon teamed up Strowman and Pearce to take on the Hurt Business for the RAW tag titles. Strowman had the match won, but Shane ordered Pearce to tag in and get the pin. However, Pearce got rolled up by Benjamin and lost the match which furthered angered Braun.

McMahon would eventually go on to insult Strowman’s intelligence and the two were supposed to fight on the March 15th episode of RAW, but it turned into a brawl instead where McMahon got the upper hand.

That leads us to this weekend’s PPV match. And, I see absolutely no way that McMahon wins this contest even if he tries to pull a “fast one.” Did you see what I did there?

Strowman will win this match and hopefully, move on to a more meaningful feud at WrestleMania.

RAW Intergender Match

  • Randy Orton (NA)
  • Alexa Bliss (NA)

Last December, Randy Orton fought The Fiend at TLC and won by burning The Fiend alive. We haven’t seen Bray Wyatt since then.

Following that PPV event, Alexa Bliss began popping up and harassing Orton week after week. At one point she even caused him to vomit up black goo.

This past week on RAW, Bliss challenged Orton to a match at Fastlane for which Randy gladly accepted.

With that said, there’s no way that this match actually takes place. More than likely, we will see the return of The Fiend at Fastlane.

It will set up a big match for WrestleMania where The Fiend will get his revenge alongside Alexa Bliss.

I would be surprised if we even get a start to this match on Sunday. It’s probably best to avoid betting on this Fastlane bout.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship

  • (c)Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax (-300)
  • Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair (+200)

In classic WWE fashion, they’ve continued a storyline without any real build as if to just add four known wrestlers to a PPV.

We all know that Banks and Belair are going to face each other at WrestleMania, but the WWE continues to try and fan the flames of their feud. Unfortunately, it has been more dull than entertaining.

Furthermore, the duo of Banks and Belair took on the tag champs at the Elimination Chamber PPV and lost. So, instead of doing something else with Banks and Belair, they put them in a tag-title rematch without any build to the match.

Honestly, I am surprised that the odds aren’t even greater than this in favor of Jax and Baszler. At just -300, for a meaningless rematch, it actually offers some value.

I don’t see Banks and Belair winning the tag titles as it does nothing for their storyline and big WM match where Belair will almost certainly win. Instead, it would devalue the tag-titles that seem to only have credibility when Jax and Baszler are the champs.

More than likely, this match will result in the challengers losing due to some miscommunication, mistake, or heel turn by one of them. I can even see a post-match beatdown by Banks on Belair to add some fire to their feud.

As for the bet, go with the tag champs to keep the titles. Hopefully, they will get a real rivalry for WrestleMania.

RAW Singles Match

  • (c)Drew McIntyre (NA)
  • Sheamus (NA)

Good friends, turned enemies will collide this weekend after six weeks of brutal exchanges. On the February 1st episode of RAW, Sheamus turned on his bestie Drew McIntyre and demanded a shot at the WWE title.

McIntyre would end up losing the belt at the Elimination Chamber PPV after The Miz cashed in his MITB contract and beat up a worn out McIntyre who just competed in an elimination match inside the chamber.

However, just because he lost the title that didn’t mean the feud with Sheamus was over. McIntyre would face Sheamus on the March 1st episode of RAW and beat him.

The two would rematch on March 8th in a No DQ bout. Yet, that match ended when the two men hit each other with steel steps at the same time and were both knocked out. Eventually, they would agree to fight at Fastlane.

This feud has been fun to watch due to how physical it has become. I expect both men to keep that physicality going this weekend at Fastlane. I also expect McIntyre to win the bout and move on to a title shot at WM 37 against Lashley.

WWE Intercontinental Championship

  • (c)Big E (-200)
  • Apollo Crews (+150)

This feud has actually been somewhat entertaining and is overshadowed by the world championship match. Yet, it will stand on its own two feet this weekend as Crews and Big E should put on a stellar match.

The rivalry began in January when Crews failed to be Big E for the IC belt. Afterwards, a frustrated Crews, turned heel and embraced his royal Nigerian heritage.

This mean streak continued on the Feb 19th episode of SmackDown where Crews lost to Nakamura and then attacked him after the match. Big E, who was doing commentary, came to make the save but ended up getting taken out by the steel steps. He would be off TV for a few weeks.

On the March 12th episode of SmackDown, Big E would return and successfully defended his title against Sami Zayn. Crews would attack Big E after the match with steel steps once again. This would set up their Fastlane bout.

Crews’ efforts in being the heel for this storyline has been great. He is clearly a more entertaining heel than a face and he seems to be on a good path now. Unfortunately, he’s going up against WWE’s breakout star of 2021 in Big E.

That means Crews will lose this weekend. Or, at the very least, Crews gets disqualified and it sets up an Intercontinental title match for WrestleMania which would be a good spot for both men.

For this wager, take Big E to win either by pinfall or DQ. There’s decent value with his odds.

WWE Intercontinental Championship –Big E (-200)

WWE Universal Championship Match

  • (c)Roman Reigns (-2500)
  • Daniel Bryan (+750)

In what should be the main event of the show, Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan will battle for Reigns’ universal championship.

This match will have a special enforcer outside the ring. However, that enforcer hasn’t been decided yet. On the March 19th episode of SmackDown, Edge will fight Jey Uso for this role at Fastlane. You can bet it will be Edge who wins.

Bryan and Reigns Have Been Feuding for the Past Few Months

This rivalry really stepped up the intensity at the Elimination Chamber PPV after Bryan won the chamber match and had to fight Reigns right right away. Reigns would easily defeat a battered Daniel Bryan.

After the match, Edge would appear and spear Reigns. He then declared that he would fight Reigns at WM 37 for the title.

Bryan earned another shot against Reigns and his belt after defeating Jey Uso in a steel cage match on SmackDown a few weeks ago.

— WWE (@WWE) March 13, 2021

What makes things interesting for this weekend’s bout is that once Edge ends up being the guest enforcer, he could impact the outcome of this title match.

Edge could accidentally spear Bryan, which will cause him to lose the match. Or, he could spear Reigns which would get Bryan disqualified. I don’t see the WWE having Reigns cleanly pin Bryan at Fastlane.

Yet, you can be 100% certain that Reigns isn’t dropping the title this weekend. Although there’s no value with Roman at Fastlane, he will win this match one way or the other.

WWE Universal Championship Match –Roman Reigns

Other Potential Fastlane Matches

As usual, the WWE will most likely add a few matches the day of the PPV. One match I can see taking place is Matt Riddle defending his US title against Mustafa Ali.

Ali just defeated Riddle on RAW this past week in an impromptu match. More times than not, when a result like that takes place the week of a PPV, it almost certainly leads to the champ getting revenge at the PPV event.
