But there will be no Barty at the 2022 French Open as the 25-year-old Australian Open winner retired for the second time. But don’t expect that to last, as like Tom Brady, Jay-Z, and many others who talk about “retirement,” Barty will be back no matter what you read.

The 2022 Wimbledon Championships are set to be held from Monday, June 27 through Sunday, July 10 at the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club in London, England. Recently retired World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty was the Women’s winner there last year.

The 2022 US Open is scheduled to be held from Monday, August 29 to Sunday, September 11 from the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, Queens, New York. Emma Raducanu won the 2021 US Open Women’s Singles crown.

The 2022 French Open will air on NBC, and stream on the NBC Sports App, and Peacock with French Open Day sessions starting at 5 am EDT (2 am PDT) up until the Quarterfinals round and all of the French Open Night sessions beginning at 3 pm EDT (12 pm PDT).

Swiatek Worthy French Open Women’s Singles Fave

Last year, Barbora Krejčíková (10/1 to win 2022 French Open), of the Czech Republic won the Ladies’ Singles title at Roland Garros, defeating Anastasia Pavlyuchenko of Russia in three sets, but for Krejčíková to repeat on the Clay would be a surprise to many.

Even with Barty retired and the confidence from winning this Tournament last year, expecting the No. 2-ranked Krejčíková, to win here again in back-to-back years seems like gambling although she is an eight-time champion and definitely at the peak of her game.

But Krejčíková has just one Majors singles title—here in Paris a year ago—and is known more as a Doubles dominator, where seven of her eight Grand Slam wins have come from, so imagining a Świątek-Krejčíková on the red clay is the best handicapping idea from far.

And remember, Świątek (+250) was the champion here two years ago, stunning the USA’s Sofia Kenin, 6-4, 6-1 in the Finals, after coming into the City of Lights ranked No. 54 and winning the 2020 French Open as a 19-year-old, the youngest since Monica Seles in 1992.

“I haven’t won a tournament in two years so I’m not quite sure what to say, but thank you everyone,” an overwhelmed and trembling Świątek said from underneath her COViD-19 mask after winning at Court Philipe Chartier two Summers ago in our changing world.

In head-to-head matches, Świątek is 2-0 lifetime vs. Krejčíková, winning once on Clay and once on a Hard surface. So far in 2022, Świątek has gone 26-3 in her Singles matches with 2021 French Open champ Krejčíková 9-5. Świątek is currently ranked No. 1 in the world.

So if the two should meet on the red clay of Roland Garros, edge Świątek, but obviously just getting to that theoretical point will mean surviving the gauntlet of other stars there like Simona Halep (+650), Paula Badosa (12/1) and Garbiñe Muguruza (12/1).

And with Barty out and Świątek and Krejčíková beatable here, a longer shot can definitely win this tournament like Naomi Osaka (12/1), Maria Sakkari (14/1), Cori Gauff (20/1), Aryna Sabalenka (20/1), Emma Raducanu (20/1) or maybe Serena Williams (20/1).

But logic dictates that at least two and maybe three of the top four on the oddsboard will make it to the Semifinals and have a legit chance to actually cash the Futures bet in—the reason many online betting on Tennis actually make their bets in first place. Winning is fun.
