African-focused gambling operator and digital entertainment company, BetKing, part of the KingMakers Group, has joined the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA)

Established in 2018, the company offers online and retail betting, with licenses in Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Ghana. It will now feed into IBIA’s global betting integrity monitoring and alert platform, and will join many of the leading regulated sports betting operators in the world.

The association’s members account for over $137 billion in global betting turnover per annum, and nearly 50% of all regulated commercial operator online betting activity.

In an official press release, Karim Fatih, Head of Trading Operations at BetKing, spoke about the company’s affiliation to IBIA and said: “We are delighted to have joined the fight against corruption in sport and look forward to working with IBIA and our colleagues across the industry in tackling match-fixing and all associated fraudulent activity.”

This is the second company to announce its incorporation to IBIA in less than a week, as Coolbet, part of the Vincent Group acquired in 2021 by GAN, did so on May 25 as well. The company joined the association after having been granted a license by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario to offer online gambling services in the Canadian province. The operator also holds operating licences in Malta, Sweden and Estonia.

Endre Nesset, Senior Vice President of Global Sports at GAN Limited, commented: “We are very pleased to be part of the IBIA. There is strength in numbers and power in unity, and together with the rest of IBIA’s members we are in great position to help maintain integrity and stop foul play in our industry.”

The International Betting Integrity Association’s monitoring and alert platform is “a highly effective anti-corruption tool that detects and reports suspicious activity on its members’ betting markets”. The association has longstanding information sharing partnerships with leading sports and gambling regulators to utilize its data and prosecute corruption. It represents the sector at high-level policy discussion forums such as the IOC, UN, Council of Europe and European Commission.
