Argentina’s Revenue and Customs Control Agency (ARCA) reported that revenue from the indirect tax on authorized online betting and gambling platforms totaled ARS 123.856 billion (USD 81 million) between January and September 2026.
The figure exceeds the total collected throughout last year and represents 0.03% of GDP, according to estimates by consulting firm Empiria published by newspaper El Cronista.
Taking into account estimated inflation of 1.8% for September, tax revenue is estimated to have grown by around 42% in real terms during the first nine months of the year.
“Revenue collected in January–September this year has already reached 0.03% of GDP, exceeding the total for all of 2025,” Empiria economist Lucas Tettamanti posted on his X account.
Last year, revenue from this tax totaled ARS 93.658 billion. However, the amount collected during the first nine months of this year has already surpassed that figure by ARS 30.198 billion.
In September, revenue from the levy reached ARS 17.255 billion, following ARS 16.975 billion in August. Both figures were below the ARS 17.798 billion collected in July, when the decisive stages of the 2026 World Cup took place, and revenue from this tax reached its highest nominal level.
In addition, ARCA’s published revenue reports include another category that warrants particular attention: “cash betting.” In response to an inquiry from El Cronista, sources at the tax agency confirmed that revenue under this category corresponds to the specific tax on betting activities (slots).
Revenue from this category totaled ARS 56.962 billion between January and September.
