Sports betting is yet again on the table in Kentucky this new year. A bill introduced Thursday in Frankfort would legalize betting on sporting events. Should it pass, people in the state could bet on the NFL, NBA, MLB, PGA Tour, NASCAR, MLS, college sports, the Olympics and more options, as well as gamble on fantasy sports and poker.  House Bill 106 was introduced on January 5, and is sponsored by representatives Derrick Graham, Cherlynn Stevenson and Rachel Roberts. Real estate investment trust VICI Properties announced Monday it has acquired the real estate assets of four casinos – PURE Casino Edmonton, PURE Casino Yellowhead, PURE Casino Calgary and PURE Casino Lethbridge, all located in the province of Alberta – from PURE Canadian Gaming Corp. The deal expands VICI’s footprint into Canada. The purchase was carried out for an aggregate price of approximately CAD 271.9 million ($200.8 million). According to local media reports, as of January 8, Macau has canceled most of its travel restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic, dropping all testing requirements for inbound travelers from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. A tribal gaming authority must pay more than $88 million in damages to investors over failed plans to build two casinos, one of them an off-reservation gaming property near Detroit Metro Airport, and a second one proposed in downtown Lansing. The legal battle for control of the UK National Lottery has been revived by Camelot’s technology partner, International Game Technology (IGT), as the company is now suing the Gambling Commission under European human rights laws. The business argues the regulator’s decision to award the fourth lottery license to the Czech-owned Allwyn gaming group has cost its “marketable goodwill,” reports The Times. Las Vegas-based Station Casinos has sold 56.6 acres south of the Strip to hospital chain HCA Healthcare. The land is located at the northwest corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Cactus Avenue, and had a tag price of nearly $62.3 million.  The sale closed late last month. Both Station Casinos and an HCA communications manager confirmed the transaction to Las Vegas Review-Journal. No specific plans have been made for the use of the land thus far. The site previously targeted the Dutch market but has been blocking customers in the Netherlands since the launch of the country’s regulated online gambling market, which went live in October 2021. Online betting giant bet365 has announced £2.8 billion ($3.4 billion) in 2022 revenue, corresponding to the financial year ended March 27, a figure that implies a 2.9% increase from the prior-year period.
