Former Suncity Group Holdings’ CEO Alvin Chau appeared in court in Macau on Friday to face more than 200 charges including illegal gambling activities, running a criminal syndicate, money laundering, and fraud. As per a new announcement on Sunday, Japan’s Universal Entertainment Corp. said that its local representatives in the Philippines have taken over the operations of the Okada Manila gambling resort. The Colorado Division of Gaming reported Friday the monthly sports betting figures corresponding to July 2022, with a total handle of $258.4 million, a 17.5% decrease from June this year, when the state saw a total of $313.3 million in bets. However, a year-over-year comparison showed a 42.5% increase in handle. Bets placed online amounted to $256.4 million, while retail operators took $1.9 million in wagers. The Maryland Sports Wagering Application Review Commission (SWARC) unanimously approved a policy amendment Friday requesting companies awarded a mobile betting license in Maryland to submit a diversity plan. As the body works out the regulations, the mobile betting launch will not be in place for the NFL kickoff, potentially delaying months. Online gaming operator Codere Online shared Thursday its financial results for the second quarter of the year. For the period ended June 30, the company reported total net gaming revenue of €29.2 million ($28.7 million), a 41% increase from the prior-year period. The United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC) announced Friday that the Secretary of State has reappointed John Baillie and Catharine Seddon as Commissioners, commencing 31 December 2022, until 10 April 2024.  Baillie is a Chartered Accountant and a former partner of KPMG in Scotland and London. The Virginia Lottery announced Thursday its report on sports wagering activity for the month of July 2022, showing a betting handle of $266 million through 14 licensed operators, 64% higher than last year when only seven were active. Virginia bettors won a total of $239 million for a combined 9.78% operator win percentage.  The total tax for the month reached $3 million, with $2.9 million being allocated to Virginia’s General Fund, as a result of the 15% tax rate placed by the state on all sports betting activity. $76,507 is going to the state’s Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund.  Despite revenue…
