Australia’s financial crimes regulator has opened an investigation into British sports betting operator Entain. The Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC) said it intends to assess whether the gaming giant was complying with anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing laws. The Star Entertainment Group has been found unsuitable to operate its casino in Sydney, according to Adam Bell SC’s inquiry into the company’s operations there. The Australian giant could potentially face the loss or suspension of its Sydney casino license after the investigation found lax anti-money laundering controls.
