The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement on Monday released Atlantic City casinos’ financial results for the first quarter of 2022, showing that only four of the nine casinos individually have reported higher gross operating profits than they did in the first quarter of 2019, before the coronavirus pandemic took hold. The figures released by the regulator show the casinos and their online arms collectively posted a gross operating profit of $155.6 million in the first three months of the year, up 63% from the first three months of 2021, and nearly 79% higher than the first quarter of 2019.  Eight…

The Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) on Monday warned against introducing mandatory spending limits for players in Great Britain after a new YouGov survey showed that two thirds of bettors (65%) believe there is a large risk that setting limits on the amount of money spent on betting would drive more people to the unsafe, unregulated black market online, while 56% thought the Government should not set limits on how much money they could bet. Minnesota sports betting legalization bill failed to pass in the Legislature before the regular session ended late Sunday night, May 22, despite bipartisan support in the Senate and the House of Representatives, which had to bridge differences between their different versions. Some of Las Vegas’ biggest real estate deals have resulted in no transfer taxes, an investigation by Las Vegas Review-Journal found. At least $27.5 billion worth of transactions, mostly on or near the renowned Strip, have closed since 2007 without publicly reporting tax payments routinely levied on home purchases. Brazilian Senator Rodrigo Pacheco assessed the possibility of taking advantage of a “window of opportunity” after the elections, and before the end of the current legislature, to vote on the gambling regulation, thus avoiding possible opposition from any new parliamentary composition.
