Nebraska lawmakers have passed a bill limiting the total amount of racinos permitted in the state. Legislative Bill 876 was approved on a 38-to-3 vote and now awaits Governor Pete Ricketts’ signature. The proposal allows the six current horse tracks across the state to launch casino gaming, as approved by Nebraska voters in November 2020. Meanwhile, it requires the Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission to hold up proposals for new racetracks and casinos until socio-economic impact and statewide market conditions studies are finished. Seneca Nation members rallied last Friday at Niagara Square in Buffalo for a “fair” casino compact and in opposition to “overreaching” actions made by New York State as part of a years-long dispute over compact payments. Four Pennsylvania casinos have been fined for a variety of violations, this according to the state’s Gaming Control Board. The fines were approved late last week. The Mohegan Sun Pocono Casino received a fine of $10,000 for failures in self-exclusion, and the Rivers Casino Pittsburgh was fined $7,500 for using revoked software on some slot machines.
