West Virginia Legislature on Friday forwarded a bill to Gov. Jim Justice’s desk that would allow operators to accept bets on esports events.  House Bill 4826 classifies esports within the sporting discipline, allowing West Virginia residents to wager on competitive gaming events in the same capacity they would a traditional sports game. Gaming and hospitality business Boyd Gaming is acquiring California-based online gaming company Pala Interactive, the Nevada operator announced on Monday. The move is expected to advance Boyd’s iGaming strategy and drive growth within the segment. The South Dakota Commission on Gaming fined two Deadwood casinos and an internet sportsbook company $3,000 each for accepting illegal bets on sporting events. Gold Dust Hotel and Casino, Mustang Sally’s and Internet Sports International were the operators to receive penalties. The SHNS surveyed all legislators, receiving responses from all but 12: of those who responded, 24 (60% of the total chamber) said they would back the plan.
