Novibet, a European operator of iGaming and online sports betting, is set to go public on Nasdaq through a special purpose acquisition (SPAC) merger with Artemis Strategic Investment Corporation in a deal that values the company at $696 million. International Game Technology (IGT) announced Wednesday it was recently awarded one of the lottery industry’s security certifications: World Lottery Association’s Security Control Standard: 2020 (WLA-SCS:2020) Level 2. To earn this designation, IGT had to comply with requirements of ISO/IEC 27001 as well as additional, lottery-focused security requirements imposed by the WLA. A coalition of more than 80 local elected officials and California cities, several of which have cardrooms, announced last Wednesday their opposition to a sports betting initiative sponsored by several tribes and the only one already eligible for the state’s November ballot so far. As New York State nears the approval of the state budget, set for April 1, odds indicate that, by the end of the week, the Empire State will move to authorize three casino licenses for the New York City area.
