The South Dakota Commission on Gaming fined two Deadwood casinos and an internet sportsbook company $3,000 each for accepting illegal bets on sporting events. Gold Dust Hotel and Casino, Mustang Sally’s and Internet Sports International were the operators to receive penalties. This measure was revealed the same week the regulator posted positive results for the city’s casinos. The illegal activity included accepting bets on college basketball games involving South Dakota State University and future games on the NCAA basketball tournament before the competition field was set. A new poll conducted by State House News Service shows a majority of Massachusetts senators support sports betting legalization. The SHNS surveyed all legislators, receiving responses from all but 12: of those who responded, 24 (60% of the total chamber) said they would back the plan. Meanwhile, eight senators gave noncommittal or undecided responses, including Senate President Karen Spilka. None explicitly spoke out against legalization, further shows the poll. As the UK Gambling Commission decided to award the National Lottery contract to multinational Allwyn Entertainment, Camelot, which has operated the business since 1994, is expected to challenge the regulator, taking it to court on the grounds of breaking the law when it discarded Camelot’s score in the system that measures the bids, according to a report Saturday by The Telegraph.  Per the former National Lottery’s operator, Camelot had a 15% “risk factor” discount that was supposed to be applied to bidders’ financial forecasts. The Culinary Union has called Station Casinos’ suitability for a Nevada gaming license into question. In a statement, released last Wednesday, Culinary officials urged the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) to investigate the company for “failing to adhere to federal labor law.” “The Culinary Union is urging the Gaming Control Board to move the Nevada Gaming Commission to take disciplinary action against Station Casinos, up to and including revocation of privileged gaming licenses held by affiliates,” the statement reads. Matt Bekier, Chief Executive Officer of Australian gaming heavyweight Star Entertainment Group, has stepped down from the role. Seven “satellite casinos” operating in Macau are allegedly slated to stop operating in the world’s largest gaming hub by mid-year. The news comes as the city moves forward with the process of amending its gambling laws, with a number of provisions targeting these venues. “Satellite casinos” are facilities operating under a license attached to one of the city’s six concessionaires, but which are run by third parties on individually owned premises.
