Testing and certification services company Gaming Laboratories International has been named Best Laboratory in the SAGSE LatAm awards for the second year in a row. In 2020, the business was named Best Laboratory in the SAGSE LatAm, SAGSE Europe, and SAGSE USA Rankings.

Additionally, GLI’s vice president of Latin America and the Caribbean, Karen Sierra-Hughes, was also named again as one of the top five leaders in the land-based gaming industry and one of the top five leaders in the online gaming industry at the awards.

It is an incredible honor to have our industry peers recognize the hard work of our global teams in naming GLI Best Laboratory. We are proud of the passion and dedication of each of our team members,” said GLI president and CEO James Maida.

We are especially proud of Karen for being named a top leader in both the land-based industry and online gaming categories, and of the Latin American and Caribbean team for the work they do to help the region’s industry embrace change and continually move forward,” added the executive.

GLI has been involved in the Latin American and Caribbean gaming industries for almost 25 years, a press release explains. Recently, the company further deepened its commitment to the region’s established and emerging sectors of the gaming industry naming Valter Delfraro Junior to its Latin America and Caribbean team to spearhead the company’s efforts in Brazil.

We are grateful to the Latin American industry for recognizing GLI in this manner — it is incredibly meaningful, as it is the result of the direct vote of our gaming community itself,” said Vice President Latin American and Caribbean, Karen Sierra-Hughes.

We are also thankful to the SAGSE LatAm organization for continuing to create opportunities to engage and solidify a positive and collaborative environment that’s helping us all grow, evolve, and succeed in both challenging and prosperous times,” she concluded.

The 30th edition of SAGSE LatAm was conducted March 30-31 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, returning to its in-person format with high attendance and the industry’s support. Hilton Buenos Aires Hotel and Convention Center was the chosen venue for the event, which exceeded the expectations of the showcasing companies and managed to gather a great number of visitors.

GLI provider suppliers, operators and regulators expert guidance for ensuring gaming innovations meet regulatory standards. Since 1989, it has certified nearly 2 million items and has tested equipment for more than 480 jurisdictions through a global network o f laboratory locations across six continents.

GLI grew its LatAm presence by naming Valter Delfraro Júnior as its new Government Relations and Business Development Executive for its Latin America & Caribbean Team in October last year. Delfraro’s new role will be supporting the industry with their certification and consultancy needs, as they explore new opportunities in Brazil, where he is based, as well as internationally.

Brazil will be his primary region of focus, while helping additional countries throughout the region with his expertise. “He will also be a valuable resource to government entities in their path to analyzing the expansion of gaming verticals and its correspondent regulation to guarantee transparency, integrity and fairness of the industry for the benefit of Brazilian citizens”, GLI said in a statement.
