After six months of renovations, the new Barstool Sportsbook at L’Auberge in Lake Charles opened Monday, just in time for NCAA’s March Madness, featuring 9,000 square feet of food, drinks, TVs and gambling.  The new sportsbook, which opened after a ribbon-cutting ceremony held on March 14 at 10 a.m., attended by gambling personalities Megan Makin Money and Ben Mintzy. The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is imposing a series of conditions on Encore Boston Harbor’s proposal for a mixed-use development across the street where the venue sits. Operator Wynn Resorts had long shown an interest in utilizing the land across the Everett casino for the construction of a new entertainment venue, restaurants and parking garage. After 28 years, Camelot will lose its license to run the UK National Lottery as the Gambling Commission named rival Allwyn Entertainment as its preferred applicant to take over. Owned by the Czech group Sazka, Allwyn is expected to take over from Camelot in 2024. Camelot has been named as the reserve applicant. A bill seeking to allow the state gambling industry to adopt cashless gaming and to legalize esports betting has passed the Iowa House of Representatives.
